Looking at the weather like it has been with no rain for a while looks like the peaks will be dry if the weather keeps up unlikely i suppose, but if it is really dry ie record breaking conditions do you think the record can be broke i recon it can what do others think ?

Probably not. Couldn't have been much drier last year.

In a way the 3 peaks is always a ridiculously fast fell race; I mean is there another 23 and a bit fell race with 5,400 feet of climb thats anywhere near as fast?

Too much of the route is easy running even in wet, wild and slimey weather - the cart track up PyG, the track from Nether Lodge, the road to Ribblehead, the track to the tunnel under the railway, the ridgeline of Whernside, the lane after descending Whernside, the slabbed path up Ingleborough and even much of the 5 or so mile trog in after Ingleborough is easyish running. In addition the initial descents off of PyG and Whernside are also both super fast, especially if you know the proper line off of Whernside. In terms of downhill versus uphill getting on for 16 miles is generally or actually in the downhill direction too.

In fact the whole shebang is a doddle

Oh well, I'm not gonna bother doing it now - it was my big challenge for this year rather than suffer the Edinburgh marathon again, and we had a trot round all 3 on Good Friday, so now after reading that Stolly you've made me realise that there's no point really - top man!

Right, I was about to go on the wagon until next Saturday, but balls to it, I'm off t'pub - pint anyone?

    Re: Three Peaks 2010.

I'm just hoping I can get to the start line this year.

Back problems started around 3 weeks ago, seemed to have almost gone, but then aggravated last Friday.
Unable to walk properly all weekend, let alone run.

I'm still in some discomfort and cannot consider running today - with continued progress I may well be able to test myself on Monday or Tuesday.

But if I get to the start line, it will probably be a recce approach with a time of 5 hours or so on the cards.
