Cheers... great pic.
I was up there with two people on Saturday. We did Whernside and Ingleborough. It was still pretty much like Stolly's photograph, tough going but very beautiful.
The snow is pretty thick on the tops and it is very slippy going on the descents. But there is nothing at all lower down.
went to do whernside and inglebrough yesterday.(tuesday)
parked at horton and caught the 10.00 train to ribblehead.
climb up Whernside fine but very wet and heavy,
until final bit where there was a bit of snow, had to dig shoes into ice to get a good grip.once on the top it was ok,descended ok but just a bit sloppy where sun penetrating the ice.
inglebrough was good, just the climb up the waterfall was interesting,i used the fence posts and wire to pull myself up.
on top it was all clear.
coming off there was some snow pockets, just a case of ensureing a good foothold.
not done it for a few years so was suprised to see the cows on the return to horton.
plenty of friendly walkers made it a nice run.
Took the family up Ingleborough on New Year's Day. Beautiful scenery but had to get Mountain Rescue out for the family ahead by the frozen waterfall. They'd lost their bottle on the way down and went to ground by the kissing gate.
Unfortunately can't make it,got to watch Jarse jnr performing in Iolanthe that day.If anyone out there wants it,PM me and we'll sort it out.![]()
I am also offering my entry up for any takers.
Sadly my excuse is injury after Edale Skyline.
Even if I managed to get the calf sorted out, it would be asking for trouble to attempt my first PPP on zero training.
Also offering mine
Stupid non refunds. :/
Drat, same weekend as the k.downfall...![]()
