17 miles back pack tuesday
today:ACHEY :D
Almost fulfilled my ambition to run home from work, Birchwood, Warrington - Darwen. I mananged to get to just after Dunscar Bridge (Bolton) then decided to catch the bus over the A666. It was dark and that road has no pavements, I would have been road kill.
I could have gone over winter hill but I am far to chicken to be up there alone at night.
Managed 19miles with 1300ft of climb in 3 hours, so Im pretty pleased. Made some terrible route choices its not just on the hills that I struggle finding my way.
The bus cost me £2.40 for a 7 minute journey, no wonder people dont use public transport. I simply could not afford it on a regular basis
Jamie
NotOnUrHelly - Well done a bloody good run that and not the most straightforward of routes to follow getting from Birchwood to Darwen.
Thanks Pinno,
I did want to do the lot but the road between Bolton and Darwen is deadly and I was pretty tired by then so I would have needed to be on the ball. Hence hopping on the bus
I have put the route in memory map and I could have gone a bit more direct, I just got lost on the streets of Bolton. Next time I try it I'll probably go through Westhoughton and perhaps give Winter Hill and Belmont a crack.
Cheers
Jamie
After four days off tending to my ill 2 year old (tonsillitis/stomach bug and mouth infetion in one go) I managed an hour fast on the flat and felt good.

Mmm - same down here - absolute rip off on train and bus. If I go to London before 8.30am the return journey is almost £50.
Jeepers downsman, thats almost as steep as kirk fell.
Hows the asthma going, im starting to feel a bit grotty buts its that time of year.
Did my 7 mile run in Tatton Park at 8 min pace as usual.
However my new Garmin says I did 5.97 miles at 8.58 pace.
Your running will never be the same again Swoop:eek:
5 miles this afternoon after a few hours of gardening.
I tried to explain to my parents that half term is for resting and not to be used as a slave by parents!!!! Parents, who would have them!!!!!
Asthma OK - kept in check with one blast of the brown one before bed each night and use of the blue one when needed. I had several months of neither from about March - Septemer than it crept up on me one night when the weather turned! Not affectng running or cycling though which is good.
12 miles 1,300ft around Chew valley and Chew head from Tintwistle.
very rough under foot knee deep heather and very wet, so not very fast.
Ian, by any chance was that you I saw today coming off Ormes Moor above Ogden Clough at about 2.00pm today?
No sorry Grouse
I left the car about 8.50 ran via the wrecks above Tintwistle Knarr contoured round by Arnfield Flats, up Ormes Moor, round the Back of Chew res to Featherbed moss where it stopped raining and the mist lifted. Took in 2 more tea plants (only one to find now). Direct to Black Chew head a bit too rough going underfoot. To Robinsons moss and back to car for 11.45.
Going out tommorrow from Salters Brook at 9.50 for a similar run.
Fab Autumn weekend in Wharfedale. Rode bike up to Burnsall yesterday afternoon through Appletreewick and back via Eastby, Embsay and Bolton Abbey. Ran up Beamsley Beacon, over to Round Hill and back over moor this morning.

A nice afternoon trot around Turton and Wayoh resevoir. They were like mill ponds, no wind and very firm underfoot.
40 mins today on and around Hobson Moor. Lovely day for it, just a shame I couldn't breathe too well!!!! LOads and loads of people out this morning.
Afternoon spent in Ikea followed by building furniture!!!
7.5 mile 1,200ft Recce run of a club race for the winter series.
Salters Brook- Dead End Edge Trig-sheepfold (withins brook)-Britland edge hill-Snailsden pike end and back. Very tough underfoot, I didn't realise tussocks could be so big...
Thats the one thing about Ikea, the instructions are wrote very clearly in pictures for us visual learners with a first class Design Technology degree!!!! And if they do miss a part out they fall over themselves finding spare parts. They even sent my parents a part from Sweden last year as it was missing from the pack.
Had a decent 2.5hours dossing around on Pendle with Murdoch, the weather was horrendous and then it cleared up and turned into a lovely day just as we finished.
Also got slighty lost and had qaud bike ride from a lost farmer looking for his Sheep. I had lost the will to live at that point, I was cold wet and my hangover was kicking in. So I was glad of the ride.
Who says reccies are'nt interesting
6.5 miles in the Llanberis quarries and Padarn Park from Nant Peris this morning, track session this evening.
Had mates over for the weekend so didn't run at all this weekend, I was doing well until then on my diet and lack of alcohol.

after a misseiable morning I was glad to get running under a blue sky at dinner. Broke the day up nicely.
Yesterday - 8 mile walk over & around Fountains Fell from near MalhamTarn, we only saw one other person all walk, proving you can get away from the crowds in that area- somewhere to consider for a future run methinks.
Today - 45 mins in & around Cockersdale and Post Hill (between Pudsey & New Farnley) . Felt good considering first run for over 2 weeks (though been maintaining some level of fitness through bike commuting + walking when not stuck on trains or Travel Lodges:() - just need to keep the motivation going now, especially as XC season is here.
