A pair of half worn 330's for me. By the time I've finished they'll be ready for the bin.
Thats my boy!
Now then all you folks wandering about clogs. Look, this race puts a premium on speed and grip on both rock, shale and steep mad downill grass/mud. So forget the road bit, you need the best sort of grip you can get on a very low and lightweight shoe. Walshes are hard to beat in this combination of requirements...and they might as well be new. After all, this is the Wimbledon Final, the FA Cup final, the Rugby Grand Slam of British Fell Racing. If ya cannae git noo shooes fer that one, when can ye??
I got an entry for the race via the reserve list but my wife has just had major surgery and it looks like I'm going to be nurse maiding instead. I'm gutted!
I emailed the race sec to try to transfer the entry to the reserve list, but it's too late for any number transfers, so I'll be a no-show.
The Mrs says she owes me an entry for next year!
Have a great run everyone.
Saturday weather forecast looks wet !!!!:(

Snap new pair of 330s purchased on sat from pendleton £55 bargain!!

From MWIS http://www.mwis.org.uk/mountain/WH.PDF:
PLANNING OUTLOOK: all mountain areas of Britain
A very deep low will approach western Britain on Friday, pushing strong winds and heavy rain to many areas – although this may be very slow to move into Scotland. Most likely widespread showers over the weekend; although a minority of charts from major forecast centres indicate that Scotland will have a largely dry weekend with east winds.
See, it's going to be perfect weather (my underlining):D
never mind where everyone is staying ;) where does everyone go in the evening? my mate can't make it now so I'm billy nomates
What no thread for guess the winning time like we had for the 3ppp??
Well, I've just cross checked that with snow-forecast.com site for the Nevis range (http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts...Range/6day/top) and it's looking not bad - at 1221m (top station at Nevis range) it's going to cloudy but dry with a temp of +2 degs, a 25mph NE wind and a freezing level of 1400m - which means it'll be nudging freezing on the top of the Ben before you take wind chill into account.
I'm not sure if anyone has done any analysis of winning times over the years compared to wind speed and direction, but I reckon it will be slower without being pushed up by a brisk sou-westerly.
Reckon I should pack the helly.
Took children up on saturday, was wet, quite a few runners going up n down all had walshes on. Did recce sunday morning in flyrocks,:eek:will definately be wearing mudclaws:)Met Graham Brooks from Lochaber AC on way up, great company and showed me the best lines, can't wait to let rip on Saturday. Hi Gang,
Check out Grifter's earlier post (#170 on page of 12) on this thread. £1 in to a kitty (held by Mrs Grifter) to guess your finishing time. Closest one to their estimate wins the pot (...and admiration of all!). Last year Stuart Hunn from Skipton guessed his time to the precise second
So if you're in Fort William in time on Friday evening...sometime between 7pm and about half 8...and near the Imperial Hotel...come on in and place your bet!
And the nice thing about it is that estimates and actuals don't get published worldwide :) (...erm...well, okay they do! On the Wharefdale Harriers site by the Monday evening for all to see the optimists and pessimists amongst us).
Oh and my time...well, still working on the analysis of previous years performances. I appear to have multi-variable partial differential equation to solve though which may take a little while, so for now my forum-published estimate is....
2:13 +or- 5mins (Okay, for this site only I'll guess 2:13:13)
Somewhere near Grifter (...ahead at the top :) behind at the bottom :()
Btw, if anyone's interested in seeing an on-the-day report, we try to keep our Wharfedale harriers webmaster up to date and he gets to post text updates on the day at the time!
e.g. last year...
http://www.wharfedaleharriers.org.uk...september.html
...and this year he's got a mobile with a camera so we promised him some piccies! (Mind, just how interesting can a rain cloud look eh...!)
See yous at the Imperial or at the start gang...!
Goldie - Oz coming and maybe 1 more, working friday morning hoping to set of 2ish. Got to come back saturday night:( got childrens football match sunday. where you camping?
[QUOTE=Stick;148487]...Somewhere near Grifter (...ahead at the top :) behind at the bottom...:()QUOTE]
:(Stick...negative mental attitude...that's nay good lad.
Wot tha shuduv sed was..."well ahead o' Grifter at the top...enough to finish before 'im"
Yorks Pud! Setting off around lunchtime, stopping at the premier inn this year fri and sat night, shame your not about for a jar or 3 after the race eh!
Where you stopping on the friday when you get there?:)
Still 50-50 whether I should run this at the weekend straight after the UTMB failure. In many ways I think the old jumping straight back on the horse is the answer, but then I'm also worried that I won't have the confidence to push as hard as I need to and could have another bad run, so also tempted to not race again until the Peris. 50-50 at the moment between a day munro bagging and racing.
Anyone know how long it'll be till 2009 entry forms are out?
Ben website says online mid Jan
Does anyone know if the Glen nevis campsite has to be booked ???????
And i aint found a kilt, booooo
