Re: Overweight Confessions
Anyone watch 10 things you need to know about losing weight last night ?http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...Losing_Weight/
You can eat low fat Dairy products and the calcium in them helps you get rid of other fat in your digestive system as the calcium causes it to bind together and not get absorbed.
A good protein breakfast (weight for weight with any other breakfast) makes you less hungry at midday so you eat less.
You continue burning calories after exercise is completed while your body recovers.
One of SS smoothies better than eating the individual items as it takes longer to leave your stomach and your stomach doesn't shrink as quickly prompting the hunger pangs.
Works for soups as well.
Interesting stuff, so SS is not a food fascist after all  :D

Re: Overweight Confessions
So far, so good today - 2 x slices of toast with marmalade (hate butter & marg so thankfully one less temptation); cheese sarnie & banana for lunch, apple for later. But, bookclub tonight = wine & cake. Have run everyday this year, rest day today, cycle tomorrow, run on Sun. Still 132lbs.
Many, many cals in beer (and some vitamins).

Just managed to do another one last night without too many tears.
That pain is a nice feeling though, it means isn't wasn't long till your last hard workout! We got smashed on a circuit yesterday morning, felt especially painful after hitting the gym the night before!
Its the bunny hops and bear crawls that kill me!
Done well this week, no chocolate/beer/crisps, just healthy food all the way. Only odd snack was nuts and dried fruit combo.

DT did you eat the Ducks bread? :D

Re: Overweight Confessions
I am down to my last 2 pieces of Christmas cake after having one with my lunch today. I took (and ate) 4 slices on my New Year's Eve recce of the Haworth Hobble so it is not lasting as long this year.

Oy! Just don't be tempted by their oat stuff - best go and feed them at the weekend!!!
I'm on salad and a few dry biscuits for cheese left over. No breakfast.
BUT a pending weekend with my folks means lots of meals and they're telling me I have to help them with all the chocolate they were given for Christmas

I saw bits of it. 'twas indeed interesting stuff, but some of it was common sense. For instance, reducing the size of your plate means you'll be satisfied eating less. I wondered what that actress/comedian was on, thinking she could eat masses of food, but because it was healthy, it wouldn't count. Healthy grub's still got calories in! I also find it difficult to get my head round the fact that people nearly always underestimate their intake: I can remember everything that passes through my lips (even the odd picky/snacky stuff). Strange.
I don't know if it touched upon (or shattered my illusion of) the importance of eating first thing in the morning and 'grazing' regularly through the day? The idea that not eating first thing, and eating infrequently in big hits tricks the body into 'survival mode'; which means it metabolises slower and stores more in the way of fat. Because the body thinks there might not be food just around the corner.
As for my food fascism, I've been known to wander round the office and slap anyone eating a packet of crisps!
Fate has once more got between me and temptation. I went down to the canteen to get a fork (having left mine at home today), saw mince pies were only 20p, was about to pick one up when I realised I'd left my shrapnel in my bag upstairs. Disaster narrowly averted once more!

Someone is looking out for you SS :closed:
I have got some oatcakes, as apparently they are ok as an alternative snack. I think it is because they taste minging so I won't actually bother.

Hilarious! But wrong. Oatcakes are wicked. Especially with a load of yummy cheese...mmmm. You saw what Alf wrote about last night's programme: calcium helps stop fat being absorbed into the body. Go get yourself a chunk of stilton, or blacksticks blue, and watch the weight fall off! ;)

Is there much calcium in a nice warm pork pie?

Using this calorie calculator apparently I need at least 2,500 calories each day to maintain my current weight. An average pint of beer has 193 calories so, in conclusion, I'm good to go for 13 pints a day and cutting that to 7 will lead to swift weight loss :)

Melt some stilton on it (or Wensleydale and cranberry would go nice, I bet) and you're good to go. Washed down with Stolly's 7 pints!
Quick write a diet book:eek:

got to admit - I don't think army-style training is for everyone - it can be v hard on the body.

I only do it cos I'm in the city and it's a great way of exercising outdoors in the fresh air and dark and cold. It also pushes me harder than I'd push myself. Can barely get off the sofa some evenings though.

Yes I had 3 years of it . Running in DMS army boots certainly gave me a great appreciation of proper running shoes when they came along :D

Deffo not banned, was doing them tuesday morning up and down the gym inbetween various over leg killing exercises!!
Healthy eating still going well, no beer tonight, good start, long run tomorrow it carries on.
Plus, just because someone looks skinnier, we are talking about % body fat, which is the key, and pretty much everyone would like to reduce that! :)

Re: Overweight Confessions

Manually, it involves callipers, pinching some fat round your middle...
Orrrrrr...you could get a funky set of scales that sends an electric current through your body & works it out. I think we got ours for £20 (albeit in a sale) from Lloyds Pharmacy.
BTW my weigh-in day is gonna be Saturday mornings: Mondays are too busy, & better half does hers then too. My end of week 1 results:
Weight 12st 4.8 (173lbs down 4)
Fat 19.2% (down 0.6)
I'm now below my target weight, looks like I'll have to lose the tub then build it back up. I was hoping I might just be able to miraculously turn the mince pies into muscle...
