Really sorry that you had such a rough one Em. I probably didn't help much by telling you that you looked terrible. - Sorry.
At least you have an explanation. Hope that you bounce back quickly in readiness for the Big Bad Ben...........

not sure if the result on the main site are finalised yet, but Colin Bostock, race number 158 of Long Eaton Running Club who finished in about 3:57 is missing from them.
He's 119th in 3:27.
tough race, must run more and not look at the views next year! Cantona hope the hamstring has recovered lame excuse!
well worth every penny of pain.. bicys and tea after the race were very welcoming and so was the support from Rossendale Harriers Ta,
thanks for all the marshalls and helpers for putting the race on!
One for the RO, then. Perhaps a mis-reading of a race number?
I see it's been corrected.
Link to entry form on PBS website anyone? Can't seeem to find it.
Thanks alf. All done
im planning on doing this for the first time this year, looking forward to it immensely, I havent ran in the howgills much but know they are steep and grassy, so it should be good running? whats a good time for this? Ive kind of focused my training a little bit at this race in as much as ive done some long fell stuff in training recently as well as my usuall speed work, hoping for a good run ... :) who else is doing it?
am gonna have a bash
Sent my entry form off (late!) today, heard there should be spaces, so hopefully see you up there!
Any chance of a chat Rev? I'll be wearing a Pennine top (and probably blue shorts)
I sent mine off earlier in the week, no word back but hoping im in!! Doing 2 legs of the bg 2moro night and if I get through that unscathed I will be there Ba Ba, I'll look out for ye, was intending on camping over in Dent the evening b4 for a few ales.......
entry confirmed :) not much activity on this thread, I thought this would be the type of race lots would be doing..... cant wait for another week of battered quads after sunday :p
Well I'll be there. I love this race and hate it at the same time if that makes sense.
2 attempts before with a 3:30 target and I've managed 3:31 and 3:38.
Been cruising to CP3 and then struggled with that down/up/down from Simon's Seat and over Hazelgill Knott. Going Ok last time until I slipped and started cramping.
Plan to get to CP3 a few minutes slower, probably descend from Arant Haw a little steadier as I've had a tendancy to tear down there. Hopefully then I'll get to the Calf with enough left to enjoy the run in.
Just one thing - it's been flagged off Winder before, but I hate that run off - it always seems to take me in to 6ft tall bracken.
Am I allowed to take my own route, especially as the flags only last for a short distance, they aren't that much use!
There is a map of the route on the Kendal AC site: http://www.kendalac.co.uk/index.php?page=187
some more maps and stuff here
My entry's come through, looking forward to it!
Does full body cover mean I have to carry a hat or will the hood on my jacket suffice.......... ;)
one of these should suffice ;) Attachment 5004
Tearing down Arant Haw is one of the joys of this race, a classic fast Howgill descent - nice gradient, kind ground, early in the race.....tailor made for leathering it down and having some proper fun. Yeah you're right, it means perhaps tiring later on but i always think it's worth it because it's just such a lovely run off. Tearing down the flank of AH at the end on that fast path towards Winder is also marvellous, one of the quickest and most joyful descents I know.
Was hoping to do this as am at a wedding in Kirby Lonsdale the day before, but it's a weekend thing and I reckon a pass may not be forthcoming. It's antisocial apparently to bugger off for hours to do a fell race.....:(
Enjoy everyone
PS - can you EoD?
Don't forget to duck on Castley Knotts if that Buzzard is around again :w00t:
This just received from Jon broxap

ah, I see my namesake from Todmorden is running - I must meet him!
Brief (not too serious, but mostly factual) round up of English Championships before we go into tomorrow's decider - Sedbergh Hills.

Just been looking at the info for this race. It says that the ladies record is held by A. Priestley – 02:28:38 – in 2002.
This can't be right as Natalie White did it in 2:25:21 -in 2006 closely followed by second lady- Christine Howard in 2:25:35.
Not sure if that's been bettered since.
won by Morgan Donnelly in fine style
1st Morgan Donnelly
2nd Llyod Taggert
3rd Darren Kay
4th Ben Abdelnoor
So overall winner of English Championships is
1st Llyod Taggert
2nd Rob Jebb
3rd Ian Holmes
