3.38 for me.........nice pair of Salomon XR Crossmax to come for winning V50 team.....not doing it next year though, think I might do Anv waltz for a change.Well done Longdogs for a great run ,came past me after Hill Inn and I couldn't do owt about it.
Bugger just checked only 4 mins faster than last year, looks like i will have to do it again.
Looks like I will have to keep you tantalisingly in range behind me then to drag you round next year. Funnily enough, whilst I got you by 4 mins, I kept in my head all the way down from Ingleborough that your superior descending could be getting you very close. Therefore Anti-Social, you helped me knock off a few minutes as well as I never look back to check whether there was K & C vest there. If it had been PYG or Whernside, you would have got me but lucky that Ingleborough has just enough flattish sections to accommodate my flat road running expertise !!! Anything with bumps and stones in does not agree with me that much.
Well done anyway, as you have to be happy with PB and so much wind. I did a PB by 31 mins !!!
On the sportident results in the position category as well as the no in the race there is a number in brackets like (762) anyone know what this is?
Well that all ended in tears for me at Ribblehead where I retired!
I'm so upset but I knew deep down it was a disaster waiting to happen. I've had a migrainy/tummy type bug the past few days and was hoping part of it was nerves and would disappear once I got going. But I really suffered today with banging headache and tummy pains/nausea and my body just did not want to go so I was forced to jack it in. :'-((
My running's been going really well lately and I should have been feeling strong, I'm so upset this had to happen on the day that I've spent all this time training for! C'est la vie eh!
I was quite devastated at having to get the 'bus of shame' back to Horton!
Big thankyou to the lovely marshalls especially those that made sure we got back ok x
Gutted!
I'm now sat in my lovely new three peaks t-shirt...it's a smasher! I feel I should wear it cropped though seeing as I only did half the race! ;)
Oh well 11.3 miles/2800ft ascent is all good training for Fairfield next month and there's always next year to beat this one!
Very well done to everyone who finished today and also to those who gave it a go xxx
Sorry to hear of the few mishaps.
I was really pleased today. Executed my race plan perfectly and took PYG 5 minutes slower and Ribblehead about 10 minutes slower and then ran the second half quicker than before and almost got a PB - probably would have but for stumbling on the top of Ingleborough which gave me my first and only cramp.
I had to walk off the top, take my secret weapon gel and some salt with nuun drink and I was back on my way and finished fine.
Next stop Ennerdale hopefully.
Well done to all on what was a very tough day at the office, hot and sunny but mad wind as well.
To those that had to retire, gutted I guess, bring on next year's event I say!
Really sorry to hear that you weren't well MG and very well done for getting as far as that feeling so awful. I'm sorry to hear about the falls too. It was terrible on top of Whernside. I nearly got blown off of my feet loads of times. I actually had a cracking descent mainly because I couldn't wait to get out of the wind.
Not sure what was in my porridge this morning but I had a great run (for me), 4.30 (and 45 secs) and overtook loads of people going up and coming off of Ingleborough. I'll probably not be able to walk tomorrow though. It was a really brilliant race and so nice to see so many forumites there.
Big thanks to the organisers and the excellent marshalls. There were loads of them and it must have been really cold in that wind.
Sorry to hear about those that didn't make it. As for Whernside, the wind was pretty horrendous. Saw someone get blown over and I took an unintentional diversion into a ditch because of it.
Was all going great for me until Ingleborough when I got terrible stomach cramps. Not too bad on the way up but could hardly run going down, so finished well outside my target (of 4:30) in 4:50. Still pleased as it was my first time and I'm just happy to have completed it! Any other forumites around that time? Did you notice a young guy with long hair (and a blue headband) struggling down from Ingleborough?!
Congrats to everyone else that finished it, and a big thank you to the organisers. Thought the event was great, fantastic atmosphere and lots of people out to support. I'll definitely be back next year!
Bad luck MG, gutted for you, but put it behind you and crack on, these days happen and there's not a lot you can do about them.
4.30.44 for me pb by 2 mins so chuffed with that considering that wind, really enjoyed it though.
Well done Hes, cracking run and well done Steampig, also a cracking run.
Nice to see folks i knew and folks i just met, grand day oot:thumbup:
Oh and well done to Allan Greenwood getting round on less than adequate training and the fact his father has just passed away.
My only disappointment was buying a HH balaclava (no hats left !) & some 11-12 yr gloves to satisfy the last minute safety requirements. Only to find on the start line loads of people saying they had passed their kit check without said items ! However, I will use the balaclava next winter & my son has just turned 11 & will use the gloves. So I'll not complain too much.
Some cracking times today, many seemed to have done better than last year despite that wind. Well done to all (and you Jez).
Went for a much slower start than last year and staggered in at 4:54. After a bad winter with a torn calf, things are going in the right direction; almost an hour slower at Edale Skyline, 23 mins slower at Blubberhouses 25 and today under 10 mins slower than last year. It's a lovely run, but not one you can bluff about lack of prep.
I agree, I checked the website before setting off and they asked for wind/waterproof jacket and trousers, map, compass and whistle. No mention of gloves etc, but thankfully I had took mine anyway. The organisation other than that fact was pretty slick however and all went smoothly
Hello, here's some photo's from todays race taken at the top of Ingleborough. thanks Jim

I always bring a bag of spare gear (we all have it at home). Having said that I found my favourite pair of race socks nestling at the foot of the stairs when I got home.
And many thanks to the organisers, marshalls et al. Is it really 'only one and a half miles home' from Sulber Nick? How can it possibly take so long?
A good set of photos them Jim.
Cheers BL. Didn't spot you this year !
I struggled pretty much all the way round today, feeling leggy and uncomfortable right from the off. I managed to get to the top of Whernside in 2:31 and, despite having to follow that awful path down, to Hill Inn in about 3. But after that, my climb up Ingleborough was dire. And thanks to Hes who, running past me on the Ingleborough summit plateau shouted and offered me a drink; enough of a distraction for me to look up, trip and suffer a god awful cramp attack in the process :). Recovered a bit on the run in but finished with a disappointing 4:40. Cracking race though in beautiful sunshine, albeit it with a howling wind thrown in. I too was blown into the ditch on the top ridge of Whernside.
As for the organisers asking for runners to carry gloves and hats because of the wind - that seemed daft as, although it was ultra windy, it wasn't really cold at all, just the opposite in fact.
Just a thought Stolly - I noticed you mentioned the favorable line off Whernside that cuts out some of the rough stuff.
But due to the flagging now, it's a breach of the rules.
I noticed a high profile runner take that line - they took about a minute out of me in doing so - I was tempted to follow but didn't want to risk a DQ.
As said runner rejoined, a marshall was there and seemed to exchange polite chit chat with him and nothing else was said.
I've struggled with cramp of Whernside like many others and that line would appear a big advantage not just in view of time, but in view of well-being.
Despite being a bit peeved, I haven't and wouldn't report it - what would the rest of you do?
I started with my windshirt on but it came off within 10 minutes, same with the gloves!
The weather was exactly the same yesterday and I guess the guys making the decisions were maybe not local and being ultra cautious - I actually ran topless most of the way and never once felt cold in the slightest. Thanks to geronimo for lending me some gloves and a buff and to Stevefoster for paying a quid towards my desperately needed beefburger at the end.
Speaking of wind, going up the stone slabs toward Ingleborough the runner in front of me treated me to a bowel bugle rendition in F-Major, very stirring and lasted well over 45 seconds, with an encore. Better out than in i suppose:w00t:
What a fantastic day! I loved it and can't wait for next year! First time for me and have had the past four weeks off with injury but was able to get round in 4.33 so was really pleased. I swear i was smiling the whole way round - although at times i was feeling a bit pooh - i really really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again! What an amazing event!
Met some lovely people too and super marshalls.
I had my Haglofs Oz top on the whole way round - If I could have easily taken it off I would have at one stage - between 10 and 15km - but the rest of the time I felt fine. One cup of water at Hill Inn only - PB by 6 minutes - 4.23.19. Fell on the final descent, putting holes in my face/glasses/garmin/Haglofs top! An expensive fall.
I spectated, didn't really want to as I had entered and gave my place up.... but hey ho
Memorable moments
Ben Abdelnoor being told several times by spectators he was first Lady
Ben finishing 3rd
Manhar finishing in fine spirits
Cycling from the Hill Inn back to Horton into a fantastic headwind, looking over my shoulder to find a father cycling with a small child on a trailer bike tucked in behind :)
Feet in the Cowclaps having a great run
Allan Greenwood running
Tony Varley completing his 20th
and loads more!
That was a tough race, first time i done it and about 12 miles more than I've ever raced before. Did one 24 mile run training for it last sunday haha!! sort of put in perspective what pace I was looking at doing compared to 10-12 mile races. Awsome event though and the support on route was amazing, so many people offering water and stuff and marshalling was brilliant.
Quite happy with my first go, crossed in 03:25:04 and 28th overall. Will be back next year for a proper crack at it.
Thanks to all involved.
Fantastic day out - big well done to all who ran, my feet were sore after only 7 or so miles of gentle trotting about on the course. Hope to do the 3pcx in Sept and perhaps some low key fell races before then in my attempt for achieving some sort of race fitness.
Anyway, until I can enjoy hooning around the fells I was snapping as part of the Sportsunday team today - I was part way up PG & part way up toward Sulber Nick with my camera. Dave was at the finish and the lovely Laura was teetering about on Whernside - pics are in the process of being uploaded but I suspect they will be up until midnight re-sizing, uploading etc. I do not have any pics here as they are being fiddled with but managed to get 1 random one back off them via email so at least I can post 1 up - keep your peepers peeled at Sportsunday for loadsa pics shortly(ish).
Have 2 words to say to Mr Nuttall from BH as he reads as a guest - PICKLE JUICE!
