As said runner rejoined, a marshall was there and seemed to exchange polite chit chat with him and nothing else was said.

I've struggled with cramp of Whernside like many others and that line would appear a big advantage not just in view of time, but in view of well-being.

Despite being a bit peeved, I haven't and wouldn't report it - what would the rest of you do?
WP the favourable line off of whernside cuts virtually all of the crap out - someone in the know could cut 3 minutes of their time, maybe more. I doubt the 2:46 record will ever be broken nowadays because all the short cuts of old have been shut.
