Nice Hannn.......:D
Erm, think I am turning into the Cardiff Daz.......another new cycling book for me too to add to the 100 best climbs of two weeks ago. In fact Daz would not go amiss in Cardiff, two cycling clubs, Ajax and Jif, its a no brainer!
Oh, and a swift 35 miler after sneaking away from work, incorporating Cols Roc Blanche (nearly as steep as you know where, but much longer:eek:) and the fab mountain road to Llanwonno, dream cycling:D Then a 30mph stomp down the Porth bypass road to Ponty trying to keep as close to 30 as poss for as long as poss, or until my legs fell off, which was around Trehafod, I think they are still there, having difficulty walking.....
Toff, I am so pleased you are back to good levels of fitness on the bike :D have you tried running yet, or is that too soon?
Cardiff Daz, I like it :) I am a member of Cardiff Ajax, and I could have sworn the Jif took the piss when they founded themselves calling themselves Jif (supposedly to mean Just In Front HAH!) and designing a jersey that also looks like a 50's advert for a washing powder LOL! We are getting new kit mind, because we have gained some sponsors... I hope it will be an improvement!
Track again this am, now my legs are tired and achey... Pursuit bars a bit too long, so need to put a shorter stem on and see how they go... may need to hack some bits off the end LOL

Do I need a new bike for this?? CX or MTB?? Hardtail or Full Suss???
Thats a lovely bike
are we going to reveal the price ?
Toff yes Cardiff Daz. I like it. Pity they kicked our arse at the football last week. Chopra showing us how its done.
Was asked the question about Campagnolo chains the other night and why so expensive. My mate has the newish Record.
Now if your running Campag chains and your wondering if you should spend out about £90 for a new one and have it fitted at the bike shop because the chain tool from Campagnolo is about £300.
Dont bother
Get a SRAM chain with the Powerlink on it. Doddle to fit and works a treat. Ive run them for 2 years and no problems at all.
Yep, I run Shimano Ultegra and Ultegra/Durac Ace combo's on all my bikes and have used Sram chains for years. Excellent chains for a very good price and the link makes fitting them so easy! I always carry a spare power link with me, in case I break a chain...
28.58 for the 10 last night. much better than last week. last one of the season now for me as working away next week. just got to find a winer bike now and get training for next year.
back to trying to run on Sunday with Sedbergh Hills.

Well done mate
Just watched the enema tour, cracking finish by griepel, Robbie not far off. Been tinkering with my Mercian in the shed.
Good luck at sedbergh
Seen in the comic this week
Token tr375 chain catcher for about £11.99 . Def going to fit them on my bikes. Threw the chain the other night. Luckily no frame damage.
Hann I suggest you invest aftervyour chain came off in that race. These are good value.
Can't find it on that site Daz... but I have found ORANGE brake hoods :-O
VERY wet and windy 10m club TT champs... course pb and I won... going only at about 85% to save myself for Sundays Welsh 10 TT champs :o
[QUOTE=daz h;355353]watch that tinkering! it can be bad for you.
want to get out on the bike but must rest my legs for Sunday otherwise I will be getting criticised again.
think we should have a forum weekend bike tour in the lakes or dales one weekend. any takers?

my new bike "the Lunartic)
I was going to rest my legs but I did 50 miles tonight on the Mercian with new carbon forks. Out to mattock via the tansley climb. Very very very windy tonight. Hard going but very enjoyable.
Managed to finally just about complete my bike tool kit . No more bills from the bike shop for me. Campagnolo tolls have got bloody expensive
Oh and if you have got white bar tape, vie been cleaning mine with lemon furniture polish. Spray a load on and wipe it. Make sure you wipe it grip style and not crossways or you will lift the tape. Next time your in grimpeur mode and clogging up that climb. That smell of lemon will give you that much needed lift. Just don't lick your bars
LOL Daz, andother excellent tip from the master :)
I have just remembered I need to go out on the bike for an hour or so, to get my legs turning for tomorrows tt... weather looks dodgy... fngers crossed I won't get too wet...
24m in 90 minutes bloody hard work after last nights beer.
Glad I did it though HR averaged 154 not bad when max is 180.
Shap and back time trial this sunday 29th August. start on A6 near Morrisons Kendal
contact Fred on Kent Valley road club web site. start 10am.
28 miles of hell. any takers??
Def no ride for me today. But I've just managed a 5 mile run after working late. And I've just whipped a cassette off to degreaser and clean and check the wear on my chain after finding the chain checking tool. Yes my lad had used it, god knows what for. Maybe picking his toenails.
Just about ready for a new chain . The SRAM ones are cheaper and easier to fit and remove but a genuine campag chorus chain lasts much longer for sure.
Contary to what a lot of people think chains don't stretch they wear
Lap of the BillJ '10'. 3 minutes slower than last week due to windy, muddy conditions and nearly getting garotted by a wire fence! :w00t:
OOps, just out for a quick 20 when halfway round my cassette starts moving around, very loose:eek:slightly dodgy to change gear but steady ride hope without alarm in what gears I had! What do you reckon Daz, time for a new cassette and chain, done about 4,000 miles on this one?
75 kms in 2 hours... never knew I would be able to ride for that long, in such a small gear, pedalling at such a high cadence :w00t: Hard work, but very satisfactory ride. Windy, but we kept it dry... Changing off the front every 50 revs...:D Just Ian and me though, so hard work!
Yes on yout terrain your well pushing it. Your cassete should certainly not be moving around. The only way it should move is forward. A very simple way of knowing if your chain is worn is to either get a chain checker( £3.00) or measure with a ruler.
You simply put the chain checker in the chain and if you have over 0.75 of wear over the length you need a chain. The ruler method is simple also.
Put the ruler across the length of your chain and bear in mind we will be working in imperal. Put the zero on your ruler in line with the centre of one link. Then count across 8". If your chain is 8 1/16" its prob okay. If its 8 1/8" it needs replacing.
Toffer the way most people know that their chain is knackered is when you start upshifting to pedal easier and it starts skipping a sprocket or two. Most people then start adjusting things in frustration and eventually end up taking their steed down to the LBS to be told that it needs a new chain, cassete and the gears need re adjusting.
The chain is designed to wear before your sprockets.
So the minute your links start wearing and you get to the point whereby it needs changing, change it. This will prolong your cassete life immensly.
Dont wait until its too late or you will need a new cassete.
Heavier riders will have to change a chin earlier than a lighter rider. Also if your a cross chain merchant you will too have premature wear.
The chain should always be kept straight, not at an angle.
So I would take your cassete off Toffer and check the wheel. That may need a hub ?. If not put the new cassete on. If your not sure how to do that its a 2 min job with the chain whip and correct socket for the sprocket end cap.
Then put your chain on. Remember to check the length against the old one.
And a little tip when your cleaning your chains.
Take the back wheel out. ( you shouldnt be spraying de greaser into your zillion pound wheel hubs) . Now your going to be turning the pedals but your chain will be catching on your rear stays( Not good ) and your frame will get scratched.
The tip is simply take your skewer out your rear wheel and put it back in your frame with the chain over it. This enables the chain to glide over it and your free to clean away without scratching your frame.
Simples
Keep a spare skewer back for this job if you dont want to use your current one.
Toff, were those the Mavic wheels, the same ones I have? If so, I had a similar problem with mine... I only just changed the casette from 9 speed (as I had them on my ole dbike before) to 10 speed and although I had done the casette change properly and tightened it up properly, it needed an extra spacer! I am not the only one who has had this problem with these wheels, i.e. hubs...
Daz, excellent tip yet again about chain cleaning!
I replace my chains regularly, i.e. when they start to wear, and make my casettes last a long long time as a result :)
....and no Hann, not the lovely Mavics, older set on the Ridley:)
Now, where was that ruler....
That is my mantra, obviously I need a new bike........
Not sure Mrs T is aware of said formula........however isn't mantra No2 "forgiveness is easer to obtain than permission"?:D:D
