Ran the Kirkintilloch 12.5k road race, hilly (only around 500ft but thats a lot in a road race) and strong winds especially in the middle 2k and final 2.5k meant it was hard work. First three runners all slower than last year but I improved by around 20 seconds so pleased with a pb and 30th overall (around 12th vet I think). I had planned to head into the hills this afternoon but I am bushed now, might just have an easy jog as the dog needs taking out and an early night I think. Tired and pleased.

Did 7.24 mile today on the roads. Had hoped to do Lostock 6 but was feeling the effects of yesterdays Standish Race a wee bit and getting up a few times in the night to the little fella. So decided to do a local road run instead very wet and windy this morning
21.79m on singlespeed crosser. Up over Soyland Moor down into Cragg Vale, up to Stoodley Pike, plenty carrying and grunting, down to Top Brink pub following same route as Stoodley Pike fell race. Back on road to Summit pub, up to White House same route as White Holme Circular, more carrying and grunting. Really beasted it up hill to White House, resisting the urge to have a pint of Guinness. Back down road to Ripponden. Is that ok FREDDIE, or should i go round again after tea:eek: ;) :D
Had a kip this afternoon and woke up feeling great. After a late lunch the sun looked lovely and despite a cold wind I decided to take the dog for a run. 8 miles on local forest trails, mostly out of the wind, but it blew in a mega sleet storm for 10 minutes or so leaving a dusting of white on the hills. Happy to clip round in 8's feeling good. Just need to be careful this week, backing off for a hilly 10 on roads next weekend.
I hope everyone not injured is happy!!! :D

I did run quite a bit with bike on shoulder, well more of a drunken stagger(sorry Stagger) Also fell over and dug a twenty yard long trench with front wheel of bike, so mur mur de mur mur, and anyway FREDDIE'S happy with me so there:p ;) :D
can i go for a wee sir? I'll make sure i run back.:D
57 miles/2700' on the bike up to and around Settle. Will try a run in the morning and see if my calf can cope as it's still a little tight from the race on Saturday.
Six Miles Steady by the Canal around Hyde/Dukinfield
Four miles multiterrain:)
5 miles on undulating forest trails taking it easy after good weekend.
Wet and black with the rain clouds and trees, so I could hardly see the trees 10feet on either side sometimes. Plodding along, & sure THEY were behind me. The dog seemed scared so I had her run along with me for bit  Wind seemed to be funneled into me most of the way round even though it was a cirlcular route!!!
Great fun

I did my 6 mile Sunday morninger up Attamire Scar, done though on a Monday night as a solo bat run. My left knee is finally getting better (touches wood, throws salt over his shoulder, kisses rabbits foot etc) and I could run fast downhill again, at long bleeeeeding last  . My running up hill was a bit more eratic with my long 'un from Saturday still having an affect but did a pb all the same - 1 hour almost to the second :)
Well it wasn't really training - it was a run, in the dark, with me head torch, in the fells. I've said it before, training is running the canal out of Leeds city centre on a lunch time ...... with all the other saddos and I only do it when desperate. Or its doing interval training or hill reps or, heaven forbid, running round a track
But I wanted to keep Freddie happy with a contribution to the thread, is all.
5 miles up Hameldon hill on a very windy afternoon. 2 other runners out, don't usually see anyone midweek up there.
8.5 miles, inc 9 x 800 at 6.30 pace, very windy out there back to how it was three weeks ago
5 miles including the club speed/ hill session in Glasgow's windy west end. 11 reps of a new steeper hill this week to prepare some for the first SHR champs race at Bishophill this weekend. Very hard work but I enjoyed it.
4.8 miles to work 1031 ft off road, ran all the way up killer hill that usually has me walking at halfway point, 1m run home on road in dark. Sorry FREDDIE always like to cadge a lift off me mate after a 2-10 shift:o
Out tonight - nice little loop of some 8.5miles and 1500ft starting at Holme village then up around to Holme Moss summit. A good run out in (almost) any weather and my first night recce of 2008. Oh yes. :p
Got off a couple of hours early so went up Ben Lomond, 7miles, 3250 ft.
Started out at 4:30ish in soft sunshine, still but cold, wind rising as I climbed, trotting easily, and the last few walkers coming down in full winter gear, heavy packs and hoods up. The summit was clear except for when rain clouds whisked over, raining for 30 seconds before moving on. From 2/3 way up the wind was very strong and the Arrochars were black and it was moving this way, but jog on Jason, jog on. On the final plateau it started to snow sideways, I chewed on some jelly beans and trotted on.
Out of the wind going up the summit cone it was lovely. I felt like the dog and I were the only people in the world, but that could be because I couldn't see out of the cloud at all. Hitting the summit ridge I could hardly stand in the wind and would have to go straight into it to reach the trig. The snow was heavy up here and with both arms in front of my face I could just about look straight down at the path. Visibility was zero and wind chill much lower. Well cowardice is the better part of valor so we turned back there and had a lovely jog back down.
Out of the cloud at 2/3 point I could see the traffic commuting home across the loch , summit in sunshine be the 1/3 point, still just light back at the car. The dog had the skips, maybe because snow and wind were going up her non return valve, and if I had a tail it would have been straight up in the air too.
Sorry for the long post but sometimes you have to burbble.
Life is sweet. :D
Jason
you lucky bastard :D
6 miles road(about 25%)/bridleways/woods/beckside paths/hills/farm fields/rugby pitches & parkland - plenty of variety between New Farnley & Pudsey:)
I think I've finally recovered enough to be able to post this weeks training...
Monday
3pm - 9 miles over Whernside from Ribblehead viaduct finishing on the road back from Old Hill Inn. Snowed on the top of Whernside.....
7-30pm - K & C bike / run thingy. 5.5 mile bike / 2.3 mile run.
Tuesday - Knackered!
3.78m 966ft fartlek to work in the sun:cool:
After 2 days rest did a 5km Treadmill run in the gym in 20 mins as part of a fitness session with my students this afternoon.
An enjoyable little 4.5 mile/930' trail run this afternoon. It's great to be back in some comfy shoes and not have to grimace, gurn and grind around a route hoping your shoes will eventually wear in!
Weather forecast for the morning does not look too sexy so it looks like my ride up to Ribblehead & Ingleton will be a damp one - never mind.
After yesterdays elation its back to earth with a bang. 5m of hilly road and trail in the dark. Felt good after work though all the same.
Jason
21 Mlies on the Canal Towpaths and Roads around the Tame Valley Park :)
A nice steady 5 mile head torch run tonight around the XC and trail paths of Pex Hill. Bloody Spooky in the dark.
5 mile steady off road run to work, just drinking in the scenery and fresh air, felt bloody great when i got to work, calm, relaxed, just as well, i've had the shift from hell today. 10pm did not come soon enough:mad:
Yesterday - 8 miles in the morning (the joys of flexitime:) ) about 80% off road - an extension/variation of Wednesday's route with more time on and around Post Hill.
