On that note, someone took a right tumble just ahead of me and another fellow forumite coming off the top of old man. Head over heels job, but thankfully onto grass and not on the main descent (which could've been a bit nasty). He also said he was ok so I carried on.Quote:

Am planning a trip to coniston on saturday. Anyone know if the race is full? (which I doubt) Or nearly full? Haven't got an entry and don't want to have to get there at 10am to secure one...
Wasn't full as of yesterday. A mate emailed the organiser then and got a place kept for him

Another fantastic race today with perfect sunny weather and a cooling breeze. (Claggy ont tops just added to the experience but can't have been much fun for the marshalls). Beat last years time by 5mins after finding great lines all day-followed some great people!!!. I have no idea how the winning men do it in 1hr 11 but respect to them and Victoria Wilkinson, first lady who was well up there amongst them. Thanks to Sam and the team for the superb organisation as usual-printed results labels at the finish, St Johns Ambulance to mop up the blood and homemade cakes-impressive!!!!

I wrongly thought there were problems with the Coniston Fell Race web site when I tried to download the entry form numerous times in the first week of March. I wonder if many others missed out? It appears the web site uses frames (the address bar states one thing, but the displayed page is something entirely different), and when linking to documents hosted elsewhere - Google Docs in this instance - this doesn't always work under certain browser configurations. With Internet Explorer I was getting "This content cannot be displayed in a frame", and in Chrome nothing happened at all when I clicked the link. Similar happens now with the link to pre-race information, although it works now that I've logged into my Google account.
It's a shame there are no substitutions allowed (even within the same club) for a race that is 7 weeks away, but understandable for a championship race I suppose.

Hi lynne, it's working for me. It basically says bring full mandatory Fra kit and arrive in plenty of time due to large numbers of runners. Parking available in the village at the schools, weather permitted (waterlogged fields). Definitely no parking down the copper mine road. Have a good one... Oh one more thing, it says 12.15 start, i thought it was a 12.30 start?Quote:
