Up hill you can either do or you cant, I agree a few hill reps every blue moon helps,

    BUT

The key to not losing time is to be quick down hills and with practice it saves sore quads in the big events.

Everyone around me went up Robinson faster than me whereas I thought I came off Catbells pretty fast. I least crap at running down hill I guess

Oh but it makes an old man happy to see a descent from Catbells starting with a 6!

Thanks very much Wynn. I know that must have taken hours to put those together, but we anoraks really do appreciate it!

Nice one Graham. I wonder if anyone's ever managed a 4 (couldn't see one on the available results) - Simon was pretty close to it this year.

Hi all just a quick one ..... Due to the amount of drinks sachets we had to pick up from the stream and carpark we won't be doing them next year. There will be water and juice. The same setup that the senior race use.....

    Anniversary Waltz

I know it's a long way off, but could anyone tell me the route this takes up onto Robinson and then off Catbells at the end?

I'm in Keswick for a few days in November and wouldn't mind covering the route at a leisurely pace and taking in the views.

    Thanks, Jim

Here's my best recollection of the route:

The route up Robinson feels like 2000 ft straight up! The descent from Catbells follows an obvious diagonal path down.

I'll send you a map of my track from this year's race if you PM me your email address. There is some route choice up onto Robinson. The majority took the steep grassy slope and up the rocky step, but I think a few went further up the valley where there is a grassy climb all the way from the path.
