I thought the meat was a little gristly but it was well seasoned and the pastry was decent. I know you like to keep up to speed with latest pork butchery and baked goods gossip Feet; did you know Lishmans have a shop at Bolton Abbey now?

    No, I didn't.

I must get my name down for a charcuterie class.

    That made me laugh Jez.

As the subsequent progress of the thread shows, the case is never closed on this fascinating subject.

I'm making notes and will do a shop for various of the recommendations before our trip to the Lakes at the weekend.

    Maybe even the baby food.

He's an old boy I found on the web. He's holding a pair of splatchers, which presumably he knows how to use. Essential for runs in some parts of Suffolk I understand. I make do with Mudclaws myself, as Inov8 don't sell splatchers yet.

Mind you there's another meaning for splatcher in the urban dictionary I quite like too.

Personally I can eat anything whilst I run. From what I've already mentioned to proper food such as flapjacks, sandwiches, wraps etc. Depends on the length of the session or race, anything over say 25 miles and I will eat what I fancy. (I still experimenting all the time with different stuff)

I guess the trick is to munch a little bit at a time, maybe not run as fast...
