There is a decent campsite at Porth Dinllaen Farm (275405) outside Morfa Nefyn. It is not shown on the OS map so tends to be relatively quite.
Mrs Farmer let us stay for £10 a night for 5 in family tent last year which was very good VFM.
L.P. is a favourite bolt-hole for my family. Started 10 years ago when we were expecting our eldest, and we camped at the Treheli Farm campsite overlooking the west end of Porth Neigwl (Hells Mouth Bay) at 239285 (campsite very basic but tranquil - also unmarked on OS map).
Also nice campsites west of Abedaron on the extreme end of the peninsula - gorgeous sunsets.
Some favourite moments over the years are:
- getting a load of fresh mackerel (enough to feed an army) from a catch off Aberdaron beach and BBQing back at campsite.
- exploring the beaches and cliffs of the north coast (some secret spots - tip is not just to head for the sandy bits on the OS map but explore wider).
- running 'al fresco' at sunrise for a km and back along the beach at Hells Mouth. Who needs Greek or Spanish 'playa nudista' when you've got wales.
- running around the Abedaron 'peninsula' (see route on Iain's post), and afterwards knocking up a fresh paella on the cliffs.
Great area to mix the coast with the hills / mountains, or to just do the coast for a change.
I could go on and on..sshhh..dont tell anyone....
Obiwansikobe.
PS. Ive got the OS253, OS254 (1:25,000) and the OS123 (50,000) if you'd like to borrow them Dan.
