Boy Wonder> I'd reverted to lurker status. The Montrail series seems to be where my focus is these days. I spotted you at checkpoint 1, but was obviously not thinking straight at 2 and 4 as I didn't notice you there.

Anyway, Rhayader was a brilliant event. It couldn't be faulted. Great route, great organisation, great marshalling, great food (it was pretty overwhelming at the end trying to decide what to eat from the feast before me when I couldn't think totally straight). I even think the weather was good. I ran most of the way in a T-shirt and the rain stopped me from getting too hot (a contrast to the Downland Ultra at the beginning of July).

I've never won a race from the front before, so Rhayader was pretty nerve wracking. I was looking over my shoulder all the time. I kept thinking to myself "the chasing pack will be running this bit, so I've got to too" and that kept me going.

Hope to be back on the fell racing scene at The Black Mountains race. Then there is the South Wales Traverse that has been nagging for a couple of years now...

Plumlumon will be an excellent race. It could well be the decider in the Montrail championship.
