I blame the older generation for allowing it to happen , everyone over 45 in fact.

I remember when I was under 10 years old, lived in Stacksteads, and I used to shop for my mother from the local bakers, butchers, greengrocers etc in Stacksteads itself, probably until I was about 8 or 9, with the odd rare foray in to Bacup for Krazy Kuts, Woolworths.
Then around 1974/5 they heard tales of this place called ASDA in Accrington, near to the Railway Station that sold giant pots of Prize Yoghurt.
Now the only local butcher and Greengrocer I have near to me are the supermarkets.
So my Mum could be to blame for the power of ASDA/Walmart and Tesco.

I remember as a child being sent to the greengrocers/butchers (in the same shop) for all the food 2 doors down, the post office 6 doors down and round the corner to the spar shop for other stuff. This was a small village. All now have closed up many years ago due to the supermarkets and the fact that cars are used/internet shopping. It has destroyed the heart of the community.
I blame everyone UNDER 45 for not noticing what a cock up the over 45's were making and doing something about it. Why don't students revolt any more??
