I had a really bad race, leading the 1030 pack at 1 stage and then making 2 (yes 2 different!) navigational errors. Ended up doing about 12.75 miles!! 3h09m = not as good as 10 years ago 2h31.
Thoroughly enjoyed though, thanks to everyone for helping, much appreciated.
Seemed to have the strength at the end which was good but by that stage was totally deflated by doing so cr*p navigationally, and also having to bash through off-route vegetation! Schoolboy errors = must do better next time.
    D'oh.
Clive - I was in the 10.30 start too, and had a giggle with you about your navigational blips. I must say you took it all in good spirits, and were able to have a laugh about it

But yes, you were strong at the end! Considering you came past us twice, or was it three times, you still finished nearly twenty minutes quicker than me (3.27).

Probably the easyist bit navigationally - after the first ascent out away from checkpoint 1 back up on the moors, after doing about 1 mile over the moors on a coorect bearing, I misjudged where the path got near to the road and ended up going left down some valley next to a main named bridalway/walk. Had to run back uphill out of it. Then saw the 1030 crew again and then midjudged where roads joined or was it paths.......I ended up on some trigpoint North of Where I should have been nearly crying (to myself) as by then all the other runners were proabably miles away out of sight.
So apart from the daft errors, enjoyed it - I owe it 1 and will be back next year for a sub 2h31!!

Hey, I bet you were all in hysterics when you saw me going off on a tangent!!
Well I'd have had a laugh!

Well in fact Clive, if you're who I think you are, not at all.

As we came up to the road on the top, I think you were the person who went right and I tried to call you back, but it was lost on the wind.

I felt like the Pied Piper at times...I think a few people twigged that I knew where I was going and followed me. It took the biscuit when a couple of runners came to a path junction and actually waited for me

Not at all Clive. I'd been to recce it a couple of weeks before and went wrong in almost exactly the same place. It's very confusing up there as there is a 'road' marked on the map as a path. OK, so cars can't go along it, but it looks like a road, and it had me in circles last time.
