A few of us doing the second half tomorrow from Edale car park, 10am start.
Will run up Harden Clough to Mam Nick and then follow the course to the finish.
I have never done this bit before so am hoping it is straightforward.
At least it won't be too boggy if it is frosty.

The bits to watch out for are:
    1. Finding the start of the trod to Brown Knoll
    2. Finding your way to the top of Brown Knoll
    3. Spotting the turn-off to Grindslow Knoll

    A couple of hints:

    1. Finding the start of the trod to Brown Knoll
Cross the first fence after Rushop Edge (the second shown on the map) and turn right alongside it on a trod. Where it gets boggy the path veers left and crosses a stile over the next fence. Then the trod heads along a ruined wall (marked on the 1:25,000 map - it says "sheepfold") and crosses Chapel Gate. The path is then as marked on the map to the summit.
    2. Finding your way to the top of Brown Knoll
NNW to the false summit at Horseshill Tor then the two paths join up and head NW to the top.
    3. Spotting the turn-off to Grindslow Knoll
You get disoriented running along the edge in mist. It's about half a mile after the big stream crossing at Crowden Clough.

    Dear all Skyliners...

RACE MAPS are proud to announce the latest map in their fell series -the Don Morrison Edale Skyline.

    • Easy to read, using standard RACE MAPS symbols (as seen in the Lake District) -all the info you need.
    • Scale 1:30,000 -easy to handle A3 size
    • Valuable race information and route hints (for example -as discussed the small trod onto Brown Knoll.)
    • Saftey info and OS grid
    • Bagged and heat sealed in thick guage polythene map bag -ready to run and face the elements of the darkest peak.
For more information and a pdf advert including a sample of the map, please email: racemaps(at)gmail.com

Are they the same ones that Pete Bland was selling last year - the first one was Borrowdale I think? They looked quite good to me.

Yes there are quite a few up in the Lakes now and PB does sell them. I'm the 'southerner' of the RACE MAPS partnership! Consistency is the key -if you've used one in the lakes -same symbols/style as the new Edale Skyline map.

Dark Peak have kindly hosted a pdf advert on their website. Please check it out for a sample of the map: http://www.dpfr.org.uk/index.php?p=news&id=135
