I usually do this race as it is the only one in which I can guarantee to finish in the top half.
This year it clashed with Fiendsdale (a real fell race ) so I went there, went thigh deep into
a few bogs and thoroughly enjoyed coming in three-quarters of the way down the field.
The blizzard as we arrived at Fiendsdale Head was exciting but made the descent to the stream
a bit slippery. Typical of English weather that it waits until spring to start snowing!

Bloody worked as well. When I started the descent my back seized up in a voodoo like way and I coudn't breathe. However my negative mind vibes obviously made you descend like a blancmange 'cos you still didn't manage to catch me

Talking of Swoop hanging around bogs again, first fell race where I've finished completely unmuddied and unwet. Fantastic

Fowler, the next two months of fell races are on the main website. Pick your race. Pendle's pretty good, 4.5 miles, one pretty steep bit that everybody walks up, good atmosphere and good pub (or is that the same thing?)

Yes, I ran 2 years ago and watched from the Tower last year - great experience to watch and take photos, but the feeling is I should be taking part in this.

Great pics Pinno, I have followed Ady's lead on using your pics.. hope you don't mind

Ran in the racers instead of the walshes, it was dry and on doing the warm up, remembered how much of the course is road. happy with the racers too.
Remembered how short and steep too! Been coughing well tonight!

Interesting debate about walshes or other off road shoes versus road racers. I wore my walshes as I'm not the most confident descender, and I think they were the right choice for me. It is odd how I hate training on a bit of a road stretch in my walshes, but quite honestly I didn't notice any disadvantage with them on the tarmac.
