Sorry to disapoint hopey but that was the rule anyway.

    KIT RULES

This is an extremely exposed route early in the season. On this basis a full kit check will be done at registration, and spot checks at the finish for:
    Full waterproof body cover
    Map, Compass and Whistle
Entry is dependent on your carrying this as a minimum!
Not to carry them will result in disqualification.
    You have been warned

I think the chances of rain have diminished (Mountain Weather Information Service) but it could be wind chill-erotious on the tops. I might run in my windproof, which seems to keep me warmer, and carry my waterproofs.

I normally carry a Montane pertex jacket (not taped seems), which was ok for last years race?

Just wanted to check as I'm sure a few people will be turning up with pertex jackets.

Just to clarify, I'll definitely be able to buy a race map on race day won't I? I visted Pete Bland's red van at the Coniston 14 and they reassured me they'd have a supply on race day.

I'll have an OS map with me and can't imagine needing to use that or the PB one but I kind of like collecting the race maps.

It's worse than that Adrian. Have a look at the Met Office site.

It is still winter on hills above 750m where there is snow to a depth of 30cm. The snow covers all aspects, but is mainly on North and East facing slopes. Full winter clothing and equipment, including an ice axe are essential for anyone venturing above the snow line.

Talk about unlucky. Dalehead Summit = 753m
