    Re: Three Peaks 2008

I'm getting a bit stressed about what time I might be able to do. My past runnings of the race can all be discounted as they were all ran with degrees of serious unfitness and, last year, with the added handicap of a wonky knee.

I've loaded myself with the splits needed to hit a 4 hour time but, realistically, I'll be happy with a 4:15. What I'm worried about is hitting a cramp wall and missing that too.

Whernside has always killed me in the past but, there again, in the last 12 months I've scrambled up Bessy Boot, up Stickle Ghyll, up Big End and just last week up Robinson so, in my selective memory, Whernside suddenly seems a bit more "normal".

Even then though, assuming I breeze Whernside, that frigging slabbed path to Ingleborough will be there waiting to get me............

I'm hoping that Mrs Stagger's magical energy bars carry me through in about 4 hours (http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showthread.php?t=747&page=5&highlight=apricot). I have no real idea how fast to run though, so my mantra for the day is going to be 'I'm doing this for fun...'. Do you think it'll last to the top of Inglebugger?

PaulH7 has 'hit the nail on the head' - all good points I agree with.

Its my 3rd time this year and hoping to get under 5 hours for the first time. I just hope the weather is kind because if its bad I will be struggling to make the cut off times.

Sounds as if you'll be fine Stolly, how did you do at the AW last weekend?

If you're up for 4:15 then I'll be following you round....if it's a good day 4:30 for me....

Stolly / Jodg etc - I'm setting off for a 4:30 - aiming to get to Ribblehead in 1:50 - 1:52 - Blackburn Harrier - will be on the $:30 start line if you fancy going round at least the first bit together.
Stolly I was 2:18 at AW taking it easy so we should be fairly evenly matched to help each oher round.

Can I come too! 2.15 easyish on AW, will be aiming for 4.30 on PPP. Settle Harriers vest (bright green) trying to cover a 14st Fat Boy! Cant miss me!

    I'd like to try though.....
Not run on fells since HPM, not ran for 5 weeks inbetween and longest run was this weekend with a 2 hour road and trail effort. Managed about 6 hours running in 6 weeks. Now if your training has been taking a dip mine has been in freefall!

I will be VERY happy if I get close to 4 now and I will then fully appreciate those long cold wet winter runs.

Maybe I should have said someone to try to cling on to before I drop with exhaustion on the path up to Ingleborough. Strangly that path is the worst bit for me but I have never taken the direct route up Whernside so I may be in for a shock.

I can be assured of a PB though as never done the race before.

    Fine by me - I have a 6ft 2 thin as a rake BBH with me - I'm the dumpier one about 5ft 8.

It seems to me that there will be about 600 runners on the 4.30 start mark
