    Re: Three Peaks 2008

I'm game to run in a pack - I'll be the short arse in the fell pony vest. My normal running pace will get me to Ribblehead in 1:50 ish which is still good to go aiming for a 4 hour finish....... apparantly - just the simple matter of another 30 mins to the top Whernside, 20 minutes more to Chapel le Dale, 35 to the top of Ingleborough and 45 minutes finally to Horton.

Even as I type I'm seeing serious flaws in this game plan .

Thumbs up Re: Three Peaks 2008

Just to echo what Paul has said - For all newcomers - listen to the Wise words from Stringman.

I must say I am getting quite excited about Saturday. I'll be right behind all you 4:30 guys - maybe 4:45 with a view to sprinting off Inglebugger just like last year. If anyone cares to trot round at that pace I'll see you on the start line.
I'm afraid I may be anti social (& It is the 1st time I will have done this) - when I get to the top of Whernside the footie will kick off - 1 essential piece of kit for me will be my Roberts radio.....

If anyone wants my Hog roast voucher give me a shout - which Pub does the best meals - In terms of quantity followed by cost ?

All I need to do know is find a room for the night......

I'll maybe see you at start Stolly, I aint gonna try to keep up with you at that pace, not with my track record.. cramp in every race.
I'm hoping that since I switched my drink from the expensive 'anti-cramp' solution to a mixture of orange juice, salt and water, I will be able to fend cramp off for longer. The first time I stopped using it was on our 3ppp reccie back in feb, I haven't had an inkling of cramp since but I know it will probably be due on race day. I hope to be somewhere around 4.30 -4.45 ish all being well.Good luck mate!

Yes all ok, I've just driven past your house to check where it is after a trip to the MR base. Will PM or call later with times after a word with Slippery.

    Big house opposite Barn Conversation?

wow, my mum can sit in front of the computer and watch my demise in real time. Ah technology. It does make it accessible to those who cant fit into Horton though eh... wonderful idea. The world is watching!

kit list says compass is compulsary but map is only recommended

Surely both should be compulsary or both should be optional. I'd rather carry a map than a compass if there was a choice. At least I could give a GR if I was injured.

    Not grumbling just puzzled.

Its probably no map this year because the course is fully marked.
