ETV..Sounds like you are on my sort of pace....as well as a host of others who look like they are aiming for 4hrs 30 ish....

The one thing that worries me is the cramp up Whernside....I'm eating bananas and Electrolyte drink like crazy !!!!! Just worried its gonna strike and spoil my race !

Yes, the bastard cramps will be hard to keep away.

My plan to keep the cramp away is to have a small carb breakfast and drink 2-3 litre of water before the race.

During the race I am hoping the drink stations, some salt and my Jaffa cake diet will keep the cramp away.

Not sure if 'Whernside' and 'Ingleborough' will obey this plan though…..

I'll be using the drafting technique employed by cyclists - look out for me on your shirt tails!

Actually, I'll be "packing" with the other 4 1/2 hour-ers.....

I've been taking some electrolyte capsules called succeed (potassium and sodium ) for the last couple of days....weird name I know but well reviewed in triathelete magazines ...although its a bit late now for anyone to get them in long hard endurance races they seem to have helped me alot - considering I suffer with cramp more than most ! failing that there is always diarolyte

Why don't you just show them your avatar? That's what I plan to do....

'Nice' picture of the exploding head by the way, shows you what altitude can do to the unprepared. Would have thought the similar scene from Scanners would've been good as well!

For my previous 3 Three Peaks races, I've got up Penygent 42 mins, to Ribblehead in 1.50 and Hill Inn in 3.15 and then the cramp strikes and everything promptly goes to pot !!!

your timings are exacly my plan but maybe I need to stop thinking too much about it and just start off steady...keep the cramp at bay and then from Ingleborough really go for it if I'm feeling chipper.....which of course I won't be

I just drove up through Horton to Hawes and beyond for a work meeting today andf came back the same way. I got more than a few butterflies stirring in my tummy as I went past each of the peaks and the tents in the start~finish field. It was sunny on the way back and I just had to stop at Ribblehead and look at Whernside - at a distance it looked a pussycat.........

A few butterflies here too in t'office in Bradford! I was abroad on the weeks before Howarth Hobble and Calderdale Hike so didn't give them much thought beforehand and just rocked up on the day. I thought it would be good to have a week at home leading up to PPP but I'm getting really nervous now!
