Without knowing the numbers of received / rejected entries it's difficult to make an informed decision, but what if it was still pre-entry but without a limit?
If, as Itken says, about 25% of the pre-entrants don't show up then would numbers be massively over 500 on race day anyway?

Does anyone from Lochaber have any stats?
