    Re: Three Peaks 2008

During the race I had my altimax on record which gave a figure of 1545m (5068ft) ascent/descent. The route card on the 3P's site gives a figure of
1608m (5275ft) ascent. The fixtures calendar gives the climb as 4500ft.

There seems to be a big difference between the calendar figure and the others. Does anyone have the climb recorded on a GPS?

I don't have a figure directly from my GPS, but using the elevation data in tracklogs combined with the tracklog from the gps gives me a total climb of 5080 ft. I don't trust the data direct from the gps to give ascent/descent.

P.S. Your data and mine are pretty close, but there's only 200ft difference from the route card. I think all you can say is that it's somewhere around 5000ft.

I've just looked up the Altimax, and I see that it works on atmospheric pressure rather than gps. Maybe that gives a more accurate reading than a gps. Anyone know?

Calendar figure has been like that for years and I suggest it may have been
simple reckoning and whoever did it ignored the little climbs and dips between the summits.
    Horton to PYG 2277 - 754 = 1523
    Ribbleh'd to W 2415 - 975 = 1540
    Hill Inn to I 2372 - 975 = 1397
    Total 4460 ft

    Re: Three Peaks 2008

I had a great day yesterday just pottering about and giving a bit of encouragement. Watched the start and then rode to Ribblehead parked the bike and got myself part way up Wherneside.

After the front runners came through, I came off Wherneside and rode back to the start by this time the Winners where just about finishing. Testament to my cycling ability.

I then had a wander onto inglebugger to watch people descending off the last hill.

I really enjoyed myself it was great to see a good few forumites again, I've felt a bit off the scene as of late. So really enjoyed having a natter and what not

Race wise most people seem really happy with there performances with some exceptional performances and improvements. Most forumites seemed to be running well and in one piece coming off inglebugger.

Well done to my mates Murdoch,Notonurtelly and dunc on there first three peaks. Good stuff chaps.

Hope I'll be on the starting line next year.

Manhar and IanDarkPeak I have some items of your clothing and well done chaps

    Cheers
    Jamie
