Just wondering how much this race differs from the Coniston Country Fair Fell Race in July, i believe that ones a shorter distance, but is it over roughly the same course. I was maybe going to have a go at it.

Totally different courses. The Coniston Country Fair race goes from Coniston Hall to the summit of the Old Man and back. This one is an anticlockwise circuit of Mouldry Bank, Wetherlam, Swirl Howe and the Old Man.

I'll be there. Have never ran the route before though. If you haven't already seen it, race info here: http://www.conistonfellrace.org.uk/

I found it all pretty straight forward when i did it apart from getting the right line for the descent off Coniston Old Man

weather permitting, me too. Never done it before either but after 3ppp last weekend I need a quick fix.

I'l be up there with the mrs so if weather looks ok, I'm gonna give it a go.

Great race - good cakes at the start - long clib up Wetherlam and then rocky ridge to Swirl How and then runnable ridge to old man - downhill options are - follow a local - take a direct line and look out for some 10 ft drops - or chicken out and take the tourist track down.

The general idea is to take the fastest line to the bridge about 1k from the finish. Never managed a good line yet!
