When you get onto the final climb, there are some lines away from the path which can save you time. Great day out especially if you don't know Mid Wales.

Its a nice day out. A bit of a boring slog compared to some races but the views make up for it and so does the atmosphere in the town. The road section is especially tedious for those of us with tarmac allergy. No recce needed.

GW..oh its up and down alright

have done this for the last 2 years first year crap weather, last year brilliant conditions

starts with a steady climb on the road out of Dolgellau which gets steep in a couple of places. then leave the cader road to run round the lake to the foot of the mountain proper. then its a nearly relentless climb to the top which is very rocky. there is not much route choice as the path zig-zags up the side of the hill. once you reach the top which is just a jagged mountain top...admire the views if its a clear day...then turn round get of the really rocky bit to the path and then take the brakes off. same way back down apart from cutting a few corners off the zig-zags, which is very steep but saves some time. run back round the lake with legs like jelly and then try and run fast down the cader road back into the town square past all the spectators

MUCH recommended...had an entry but am not risking it after just getting over the injury

I would agree with Graham. Not such an interesting route as other races, but a great day out.

Ta for that SS. Reading the word "rock(y)" quite a lot there. Sounds like I won't be needing studs and Trails will do.

If you feel stable in trails, then yes, go for those. The road bit knacks yer walshies anyway!
