Well sometimes it is the only option for me as I don't like running around locally on the roads.
It's hard to do anything at all sometimes when you work long shifts, it is boring but my I pod helps me out and at the end of the day it's better than nought!

Evening multiterrainer how are you? I love running with my ipod on the roads or treadmill.

Too true, and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones living in a city so have the advantage of well-lit streets on dark evenings and enough local hilly off-road routes to keep me sane at other times.

Evening Pinno -I'm generally fine, slowly getting back to some semblance of fitness again. Afraid I've never been one to run with music on although I will be tempted next time I'm in the gym - that said I tend to spend more time on the x-trainer than the treadmill.

Hope the calf problem sorts itself out sooner rather than later.

I do have some great hilly routes nearby but it's about 20 min drive to get there so they're saved for when I have a half day or day off.
I do run on the country lanes nearby which are 'undulating' but being on my own I always have a slight worry in the back of mind of strange men lurking around...but I don't seem to have that worry when I'm in the hills for some reason.

I think you are totally right to be wary when out on your own on the roads - better to feel safe and secure in your surroundings.
