Antisocial i cant cut and paste as its only in the Fixtures Calender but states the following under the calender entry "U16/U18 race counts towards Midsummer Madness series"

I know we felt a couple of years ago after the junior races started up that it was a way of drawing in more folk to compete who may well be hideously young but able to race Fri and Sun but not Sat due to distances.
Apologies if its not been publicised more obviously.

Lest I be mistaken for someone even grouchier than I really am, can I just state that I thought the performances by the young runners were fantastic. Who's doing the junior training at Halifax? Damn good job, I'd say.

Thanks a million Bill and the massive team of marshalls (particularly the fine fellow who swept me up in my disastorous "navigation" cock up on Saturday).

Always a pleasure to do this. But I'm looking forward to getting back to work now!

As I don't enter the the U16/U18 race I tend not to read the entry for it. Don't think it was on the tables for after the 2 races either, so apology accepted

I think its an excellent idea that the juniors are included and at least we will all know for next year.

I do think you however it is unfair of CVFR to train their juniors in the art of phsychological warfare, I ran part of the Wicken race breathing through my backside next to an under 14 who spent all the time chatting to me before he finally ran off.

Oh and well done Bill again for organising the whole thing. As you said it would be nice if more entered as it is a good series, Saturday was a real killer.

Thanks BillJ and your team of 55 helpers for another terrifically well organised weekend from all at Springfield.

I really enjoyed my walk on the tops on Saturday watching the headless chickens (with one or two notable exceptions). I spoke to many of the runners as they passed and without exception all seemed to be enjoying it, even if they hadn't got a clue where they were.

Thanks folks, on behalf of a great team of marshals!

I can see it could be a bit frustrating when someone who didn't think on Friday they'd do all 3 days, and then they get into the swing of things and end up entering each race, only appears on the series table at the end.

Perhaps when I publish the series standings after 2 races I should include everyone who's done both races, whether or not they've said that they are going to do all 3 ?
It'd be more complicated at registration, because some of those will have already paid for all 3 races, and some would still need to pay for the Sunday race; and it'd mean that several names drop out of the final list from people who never intended to run on Sunday anyway; but at least no new names should suddenly pop up on the final series table.
    What do you think?

For the series race numbers for Saturday's race, I'd have to stick with only those people who have said in advance they are doing the series, otherwise everyone who raced on Friday would be on the list.

I think you should continue what you are doing, on the series standing on saturday night I saw there were people not entered for all three but I would have to beat if they turned up but at least I was forewarned (They did turn up and I did beat them - Yea Me).

However the bit that does need clarifying more is the status of the juniors in the series , if the race that they do instead of the Bogs full does not have a route finding element how can they be fairly included in the overall results? I think these are the sorts of issues that wil arise if and when the series really takes off which it deserves to.

    I agree with Auntie Social.
No need to make things any more complicated, you do a grand job as it is. As for the 'Junior' situation, it's a problem that's only arisen because a flurry of great youngsters has appeared; a good 'problem' to have!

Its the club committee meeting tomorrow evening so guess whats likely to be on the agenda. I agree that it needs some clarification as the coordinator of the juniors and organiser of the junior races it is the first time its cropped up as no one has run all 3. As our own juniors get older there will be an increasing number wishing to mix it up with the seniors and its only right that it is as fair as it can be for all concerned.

Sorry if my comments have caused hassle - certainly the juniors should be allowed to mix it up with the seniors (though decimate may be a fairer expression given the 2nd place obtained by one of your juniors). It does need clarifying though for future use. Would there be an issue in a limited navigation course? Its all skills that can be put to later use.
