Just ran up to check out route, just a steady plod.Quite suprised at how runnable alot of it is.Whats the deal on route ? There are plenty of sections that you can use some nice grass sections that slightly cut the main track,is this allowed ? Not so much advantage going up but great for the descent.Looking forward to it,wore the trailfox which were ok,nothing steep enough to worry about grip despite the damp conditions.Bloody cold on top mind !

You can cut that corner Rodders.

Most of the problems associated with this race occur in hot conditions. Saying that your feet will still burn, and your quads will be numbed by the 4 3/4 mile descent, but not to the same degree.

All the best for next week

A source of great debate in these parts!! :-)

I reckon most are OK, I asked one older gent in the club and his reply was 'well they can't disqualify us all'. I reckon the two obvious ones are fine. There's some good minor shortcuts just off the track which are obviously fine. The new fencing at the end of the track has caused a few issues as it makes one of the short cuts a bit trickier, so debatable how much of an advantage it is.

The main obvious one is now very very obvious as the alternative section on the track is now very badly eroded by the rains.

There's a good short cut at the top, but you miss out clogwyn tunnel so supposedly this will get you disqualified.

As I understand it, there isn't usually the need to carry waterproofs/map etc for Snowdon (at least there hasn't been for the last 3 years) - is it likely that they will want to check that gear's being carried if it's raining?

    Re: Snowdon 2008

Hi all - as a member of the snowdon race committee, once again the race will be exactly the same as route last years. Up the path to the summit then down on the railway for a bit and rejoin the footpath. As the cafe is still not open, no trains will be goin to the summit. Maybe this would be the year for the record to broken?? as its the same route as back in 1985 (on the railway). Also there will be water station at halfway house. Thanks
