It is a tough little race. Quite a lot of weather on the Calf - thanks to the two lads from Preston for guiding me over that section, and I thought it only fair to let you finish ahead of me.

I loved Fleeter's pink pony top, but I'm not sure I could wear one.

After Borrowdale, it was nice to actually finish a race...
    certainly tough though.
Some of the downs were as bad as the ups. Hazel Gill Knott, just before CP4, had the distinction of being equally unpleasant in both directions. The marshals who witnessed my ungainly descent gave me looks which combined pity and derision in equal measure.

Yes, thanks to all the marshals especially those on the last couple of checkpoints, it turned pretty grim up there later in the day

Deejay, I think I gave you some misleading information about the distance of the race. I told you that it was 12.9 miles. Err, well it was.........only thing was they were nautical miles. Now I've downloaded the route from my gps, Tracklogs tells me that it was 14.9 statute miles and 5400ft ascent.

Nautical miles was about right, given the weather over The Calf...

A good race and very hard going . The last part dragged on and on.
On the steep climb i had the Kendal lad with me and we chain ganged to the top. Nice one didnt get your name mate.

Weather was quite nice and I enjoyed it with no vest on. First time in the Howgills for me also.

Disco Stan stormed past me at the end , well done.

Thanks Marvin for asking me to go up there. I needed it.

Did all the marshals have laptops at the checkpoints????? , if so im impressed.
    Well organised

Sight of the day has to be seeing the 3 x banderos ,alias fleeter, rabbit and the pudgemeister cadging kit off myself and marvin.
