Round Rotherham 50

I might be odd here, but I actually preferred the weather on the Rotherham 50 more than the weather on the other 50 I did last year. The Woldsman at the end of April was baking hot and I had trouble with hot feet and blisters. Don't forgot you can send a bag to the half way point on Rotherham.

that's a very good point socks and one we didn't utilise however I was very envious of the bloke in front of me putting on a complete new set of warm dry clothes.

It's not so much the cold that bothers me at all it was the driving rain but again this in turn made those fields just so tough going......adding all those layers of mud to the soles of your shoes played havoc...it was what I would imagine running in moon boots would be like.

It was a good day out
I led us wrong at the end and we had a bit of a detour. a good event , muddy fields a plenty, lots of banter on the way round.

Erm yes and having a pretty serious attempt at it too !!

I'm doing a 30 miler at end of September so it's not going to be too much of a step up. Also should a fair bit fitter than when I did Draycote Water 35 in February which went well, not sure I'd fancy starting with temp at minus 5 again though.

I did what should have been a 27 mile LDWA event earlier this year and ended up doing 32 miles instead, daft thing was I was following the route description perfectly well if I was on short course lol so once I realise I turned around and eventually rejoined long course oh well I was only using it as a training run and after time on my feet

I am thinking about this. ill have moved to the area, and working in Rotherham so it seems like a sign. Maybe not a good sign, but a sign none the less.

I've entered this now and have a basic training plan following on the JW ultra on Saturday to have a decent crack at this.

At this rate I might even attempt a BGR in 2009
