all this plateau is a navigational education!
Hi Ratfink, just a suggestion for if your time is limited, Marsden to Wessenden Head is on a broad track and there will be plenty of people about so not totally necessary to recce it, unless you have the time.
Better to concentrate on Wessenden Head to Crowden and Torside Crossing (parking at Torside visitors centre and using Longdendale to get to Torside) to Snake and then park at Snake Inn and climb Seal Edge, do the "5" minute crossing but, unless you want the down and the back up, just get to the top of the decent to Grindsbrook and turn round back to your car.
Wessenden Valley, Snake Road and Grindsbrook are straight forward.

Just been over the crossing on Kinder this morning, thick fog and sludgy bog perfect. Then took a trip out to the downfall and back via Fairbrook.

If you mean the little pull in on the right bend over Woodhead Res dam, Yes.
Answer to second statement, YES, it was perfectly clear, bit of drizzle but nothing much, only out for a walk trying to get rid of a head cold before Sunday.
Just me, mi dog and mi thoughts.
Didn't go far, up onto Lawrence Edge, across to the bend at the top of Wildboar and back down to the visitors centre on the off chance the Peak Park Warden was in to have a chat re Tanky's route permissions.
