Very true, its just that i get very negative alot of the time and cant always see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I know what you mean about digging through the pain barrier. It was pritty sole distroying at the Roaches watching everyone be able to run whereas if i picked my knee up to high the cramp nail me. Those 7 mile back to the finish where so depressing thinking back now, i hit a real low and thought i'd never get back, at times i just wanted to pack it all in. But as i told emmilou afterwards, what kept me going was making sure she never passed me.

No, it wasn’t competitiveness what so ever. I sort of worded it wrong. I meant that i was expecting her to pass me aswel as the rest of the field and end up right at the back/last, and that was one of the things that kept me going.
I think had i actually come last i would have been tempted to hang my boots up....but that never happened and my boots are on my bedroom floor actually

Ive been wearing my running clothes all day under my uni clothes for tonights track session as there’s nowhere (that i know of )to get changed so at the moment im not enjoying wearing my tights.
My knee still isnt right after nearly a weeks rest but im afraid im not waiting any longer for it.

Being last is actually a liberating experince Al; once you've done it you don't have to worry about it happening again! No shame in it either - you've still beaten everyone who didn't start

Well i once came last in a 1500meter race because i got a bad stitch, that was bad enough. Hopefully i wont taste coming lst, or a DNF but there every chance both can happen so who knows eh.

I suspect unless something untoward happens or you bite off seriously more than you can chew you've got too much talent to worry about being last

Aye true but i just need to get my confidence back that my legs can last the milage without getting cramp.
Every time ive run since the Roaches, ive been able to feel the cramp nipping me in the same spot i was getting it in the race.

Cramp is a real distance runner's nighmare. I met Manhar at the top of Ingleborough at the PPP in the spring and was trying to say hello and shake his hand while clutching my right leg which was cramping very badly to the point there was a big lump in it the size of my fist

Build up the mileage and drink plenty and although it'll always be a threat it will get less of one. Bear in mind some events are more 'crampy' than other too

Aye, i'd best go and wait for my bus to take me to training, we'll see how things go with the knee and the cramp.
