    What a day

Plan was to watch Dvid Staff mem race and then go onto the NW cycloX at Bolton. I made sure my Lancashire immunisation jabs were current then off I set. In my haste to make a petrol station before i had to push the car I hit a curb just outside Colne and punctured tyre - couldn't find locking nut, quik fit had changed a tyre recently so I was cursing them for not giving it back .

Couldn't get a signal so I had to cycle half a mile from car to make a call. Car is company so after several frustrating calls to the AA as per my documentation I eventually found I had to speak to RAC, was told man was 15 miles away and on his way, hour and half later no sign. Sat in the car working out various permutations for getting to race, warming up etc when it dawned on my I hadn't brought my helmet?

A phonecall to my better half to tell my tale of woe elicited the response "and you forgot you keys and I am out with your daughter for the day"

Man came eventually and pointed out my locking nut was there and had been all along duuh me!

So as i could not go home I went top Wycoller Country park and took the bike up the Breonte way and around the Boulesworth Hill circular walk something i had been meaning to look at for a while (carrying bike of course its not a Bridle Path) views were stunning and it rescued a potential disaster of a day.

So to sum up 6 mile cycle, stagger, crawl not sure of height.

Fabulous day today, so beautiful out there, weather stunning, crisp frost over the ground - lacerated legs mind - I mean it is still shorts weather isn't it! Great company - well Dave doesn't exactly moan and argue

Full Winter Hill route done - apart from the field where the farmer might shoot you , faffed about a bit bog snorkling after getting myself a wee bit off the beaten track - I mean not lost - just someone moved the trod!

    Great day

Dark Peaks Wart Revenge race. Route chosen to take you over the roughest peak bog and heather in our area.

Mile after mile of frozen marsh land that your feet just go straight through. I couldn't feel them at one point. followed by steep ascents-descents and more soul destroying shin deep boggy tussocky icey marsh. Brilliant.

    Warm up 15 mins
Florence Marathon 7th place, 2hr 17mins 51 secs. (Two seconds off getting a pb!!!) Never mind, struggled a little after 31km. A lonely run.
Didn't bother with the warm down as Brad and I had to get across Florence, catch a train, catch another train and make sure we got to the aiport in Pisa. Sat in Gatwick now surfing the net till my next flight takes off.
Next marathon- London, April 09. Got to go under 2 hours 15mins. Thats my target. Training starts soon.

    Well done.

Good to see I'm not alone in doing a warm up for a marathon.
