After Tanky's I have 2 blisters on one foot that have filled with peat. My foot now looks like it has a bad case of frostbite!
Is it best to burst and clean out the blisters, or it is best to leave them to dry out and then get the muck out?
thanks!

Personally I'd be inclined to get the peat out and sterilise the blister. That's just my opinion.
I was hoping no-one would suggest that - I've been trying to talk myself out of it!
Running on the dark stuff every day these black blisters are pretty common. My wife says I have feet like an ogre! Although it looks as if there is peat in the blister it's actually just rubbed into the layers of skin above. Any black in the blister is just congealed blood... nice! If they're not causing you any pain and are sealed I'd leave them be although if sedge starts growing out of your head start to worry. If you want to deal with them I'd recommend the Marathon des Sables approach as it doesn't leave any skin for more crap to get under and fester. Using a sterilized scalpel blade cut away all of the dead skin right back to the living stuff (you can tell when you've hit the spot cause it bleeds and hurts). Get some iodine paint/betadine and liberally apply to the raw skin. Swear a lot and leave to air dry. 12 hours later skin will be healed and ready to run on again.
I am feeling every last bit of that as I read it thanks
That really does sound painful.
Peaty or not I always burst mine
Now there is no peat in this video bit this is what I call a proper blister!!!
Be warned do not eat before watching this guy deal with the blister in his toe.

That video is horrific!
Finally got round to bursting it on Friday. Peaty on the outside; bloody on the inside...!
Thanks for the push.
(I put a plaster on, went downstairs, tripped over a box and the same toe is now purple and won't bend)
