Thanks everyone for a really cracking day yesterday followed by great night out in Keswick. Steve was well on the way to retaining his endurance dancing crown and a good outside bet for next year's Strictly winner when I staggered out of the Loft around 1.30am . I seem to have got my re-hydration badly wrong and feel poorly this morning; I reckon the electrolyte levels of Jennings is different to Tim Taylors and I possibly had a half a pint too much

What happened? Well, on this day in 1814 - The War of 1812 between the U.S. and Britain was ended with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in Belgium.

And in 1818 - Franz Gruber of Oberndorf, Germany composed the music for "Silent Night" to words written by Josef Mohr.
