Well we got the wind and rain, what happened to the mild bit!? Personally I found the knee deep bog warmer than the driving rain. Well done to all that helped today and comiserations to whoever volunteered to recover the flags!

WOW ! Bad weather is an understatement. That was one of the worse conditions ive run in with freezing sideways hail and gale force winds. Big thanks to all marshalls and timekeepers, Sorry Stick for causing an extra breeze as i passed just before the finish, By the way have you got a problem with turretts.

And the guy that won? I'm told a 17 year old from Sedbergh School, he was way, way out in front at the end...

Yes, cheers HelmHillers and the support gang. Bad enough running around but marshalling etc etc must have been a severe posting today. Thanks; very much appreciated by all the runners I'm sure

Oh sorry Grifter....didn't mean you to hear what I called you (twice!) ...but are you sure it was me...could've been you mishearing our other run-in racer? But you know it really isn't the done thing to pass one's pal in the last 100yards (But rest assured, I'll return the favour as early as I can ). And don't you go getting loads o'points at Austwick just cos I'm not there!

The course shud of bin the longer version but twas decided that it put an extra quater of an hour on the course so thank god it didn't happen especially wiv the conditions. Collecting the flags wasn't as much of a problem as collecting the discarded paper numbers strewn across the land. Got back on summit and cudn't stand up the winds got that strong so crawlled to the turn around flag to uproot it. Bloody gud day though and the pint in the watermill was the icing on the cake!

Wet and wild indeed. Not been the biggest in the world I took a battering on the top ridge, though I did eventually decide to settle in behind some others runners and let them act as wind-buffers- sorry!
I know what Noor means about the lad who won, and he did it in a vest!!!
Did the course end up being the same as it has been in previous years then?

Yeah. The course was the same as previous years in the end. I don't think that I've ever raced in my waterproof before. I was still frozen too.

The winner, Simon Barnby is one to look out for in the future (you heard it here first) He's from Sedbergh school and is absolutely flying at the moment. It would be good to see him in a high class field to see how he goes. There is a chance he might beat the record on their 10 mile race that they put on each year, and that's been going for centuries (probably). He is being advised by Hugh Symonds which is why he's got such a good racing head at 17. Good luck to him.

Results will be out shortly. One (big) apology to make though. I managed to wipe the senior times off the stopwatch last night , so unfortunately no times for the race. Sorry. It was my fault entirely, not the timekeepers on the line who were doing a fabulous job in the conditions. They got everyone's numbers ok despite everything, so positions and points for the league will be fine.
