    Re: kids

i don't have kids of my own but i do think the world has gone mad, i remember getting a wack of a teacher, when i told my parents they said it serves you right. it made me respect my elders, children get away with far too much and parents have too much power in the courts. children don't seam to have as many school trips these days, i could go on for days about this. 10 years ago someone told me this country is going the same way as the u.s well it did.

There are no more murders etc. nowadays than in the past. It's just that the media has direct access to our electronic devices (tv, computer, phone, etc.) and its all bad news hence our perception.

Pre-television and radio you'd only here of 1 murder in a blue moon cos you didn't have access to a world of murders.
I'm not sure it is being suggested that children, once out of the front door are to be encased in 2 ton of steel and 4 wheels, I think its about younger children seeing the nice side of life for as long as possible, until parental control is no longer an option!

Its not murders I worry about, its indecent assault and attacks, I think most parents of daughters would agree, so rightly or wrongly I will continue to ferry my child around in the car at night, for as long as she'll accept it.

I totally agree with you Sarah. I drove my girls everywhere for years until they reached 17 when I paid for their driving lessons and put them on my car insurance so they could drive themselves.

I'd have to agree with daz here. My housemate who is 20 got mugged last night at 7.30pm on a busy street. She managed to run off but got a whack in the face for her troubles. Personally i think we reponsible members of society should be issued with shotguns from the government and have the right to shoot chavs on sight. The sales of trackys might suffer but think how much better the streets would be. We could get points depending on how skanky the people were we dispatched. It'd be like that game 'duck hunt' (?) i used to play on the master system, now there was a class game.

unfortunately after watching our daughters backs for years it then emerges that a woman has a greater chance of being murdered if she is married. oh well..

    Re: kids

i have run probably 2000miles each year for the last 4 yrs and not once seen a policeman or woman on the beat.
kids are not safe under say 17/18 yrs of age at night , simple as.
    there is no deterrent nowadays.
my sister was assaulted years ago,i wont give details but a pervert pulled a knife on her, he got caught eventually but if she had not been walkin home on her own it wouldnt of happened.
when i was young there were 2 x police houses on our estate.
