So the question is if you are a member of the FRA, is this an affilliated club and if not do you have to pay the full price to enter races and for once this is not a wind up but a geniune question.

For many years it was FRA policy that unattached runners should NOT be charged a levy. I'm not sure whether that is still the case and I can't find any mention of it in the 2009 calendar.

I'll be there as the slowest of the Milton Keynes runners, but hopefully a good deal quicker than last year.

How would you collect your race number from the stupid expo at FLM?

I collected it on the Wednesday last year and I'll probably do the same again this time. One of the few advantages of living down south.

This is taken from a thread in January 2007:

Organisers of fell races in England should not be collecting unattached levies for their events. Permits and associated UKA insurance for fell races in England are obtained through the FRA and there isn't any mechanism in place for collecting levies.

Does anyone know whether this situation has changed?

I know that the mechanism for Road Races has changed.

With the old system the organiser collected the £2 levy and sent it to the Rehional body such as the North of England AA.

Now, each race pays a set fee - based on the permitted number of athletes but still has to charge a levy for unattached, but the ammount of levy isn't fixed - I don't think so anyway.

Is anybody else planning to do the 3 Peaks on the Saturday and the London Marathon on the Sunday?

I did this last year - with a fortnight between the pair of them and can confirm that if you do....it will hurt

Needless to say i will not be repeating this frankly idiotic trick this year!

I should add i was by know means the only culpritt Chris Birchall finished well in both (2.22ish for FLM & top end at the PPP)

Me too, but finished much much further down the respective fields!
