I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to IanDarkpeak; during our trog from outer edge to Bleaklow I may have referred to this part of the route as a 'shit hole'

It sure is bleak and boggy up there (to put in mildly) but like any moor you care to mention alot of your perceptions of a place come from the outright toughness and outlandishness of the terrain, especially when your unfamiliar with it. I'd only been there once before, on a recce in grim weather, so I didn't have much to go on - and yes it did seem at the time an incredibly boggy, featureless wasteland of a shit hole first time round.
Now though it doesn't; its grown on me and I feel I know it better and more intimately. Not quite an ugly duckling turning into a swan yet but its getting there
