    Re: Midgley Moor

Was certainly not expecting how tough this race was going to be, it states 5 miles but it felt more like 7 going through the burnt heather was theraputic on the old shins and was also thinking would slowly vanish into the heather on some parts of the course. Also took a dive at the midday way point which I am still reeling from think the runner behind did a bunny hop over me. But it was all fun overall , and well organised.

    Re: Midgley Moor

Just come down stairs on my bum, leg in a brace and a pair of aluminium poles to deal with.

19 minutes to Crowhill, one and three quater hours back to the road.

Good job I had full body cover. A mile and a half hopping or sliding on my bum in hail storms with no one in site was a sobering experience.

Thanks to the marshalls who discovered me at the edge of the moor and the kind chap in the volvo drove me back to my car.

See what the Doc says on Thursday.

    Thanks to the well wish's.

I wish everyone would read this posting, particularly the pratts who bleat about carrying kit.

I spoke with Rod before the race and he said that although as a Short race there was no FRA kit "rule" he recommended everyone carry a cag. Rod is, of course, a GP.

    Best wishes,

    Graham

Glad it wasn't just me thinking along those lines. I know I'm very unfit at the moment but it did seem to be going on a bit for 5 miles

Hard luck Stagger, hope you're on the mend soon. Good effort to get down off the moor under your own steam.

It said 5.3 miles on my Garmin, the route I took.

Speedy recovery Stagger. Were you the fella pulling on his overtrousers by Churn Milk Joan, and muttering about 'getting going soon'?

    That was I good Sir.

I don't think I understood how injured I was until it was time to get going again.
Like I said before the full body cover, hat and glove's stopped me ending up in hospital with hypothermia and a bad leg or maybe even worse.

I trust you enjoyed the run Juicer, and will be back for more

PS I did a lot of muttering on the way back down and ended up just laughing every time it really hurt. Am I crackers?

Sounds like I was lucky to escape with one completely ruined fell shoe! Saw quite a few walking wounded so hope there wasn't too much lasting damage for anyone.

Quite a sobering experience for a soft cross country lad like me - I tend to get disoriented when the flags stop. Thoroughly enjoyed it though and will be back for more.

My thanks to whoever organised the headwind and horizontal hail as we reached the trig point, that was a nice touch.
Mrs Foot would like to commend the hospitality of Booth Cricket Club where she enjoyed a nice up of tea during the race.
