ok folks, here's first suggestion, 17th to 19th July, campsite in horton as base and bunhouse barn next door. 15 miles day one (can always be extended if there was group concensus), all take turns naving to a check point. Day two, perhaps 10 miles split into small groups getting to checkpoints, bit of a race back to base.
Day one, nice and gentle, more social than race, and nav practice, BBQ and Beer?
Comments cheers?
You could always take in the Ingleborough FR on the Saturday..............
I am off work so would probably come up for a day out 1 of the days.
the actual ingle fell race is on that saturday, or do you mean us just following the route?
Anyhow, i've had a good idea also, if sunday is to be a mini event/race, i may consider buying mini control flags and orienterring punches and cards which enables setting control descriptions etc for good fine nav practice, just means me getting there a day early to position them. Possibly eight control points.
Yes, race is that Sat.
I try to do this once or twice a year on our weekends away with a bamboo stake and bit of red n white tape/bunting, we also have small box of sweets at some of the points
Only problems i've found is.....getting up early enough to mark the course with a hangover and collecting things in again afterwards (couple of years ago, one pair kindly collected the markers thinking they were last......but they weren't)
