I went out today planning on doing 40 miles to pump up the previous distance ive ever cycled before of 34 miles....with Daz H's words of wisdome repeating over and over in my head.
I took a wrong turning by the start of Parbold Hill Race and ended up go knows where.
My plan was to go through Standish and then on to Rivington......Standish never can and i ended up going through Coppull (where accident number 1 occurred).
Headed in the direction of Rivington and eventually came to Chorley where i back-tracked to Rivington. Got abit lost trying to find the road the skirts round the edge of one of the reservoirs and ended up on a mountain bikers dream track.......then this bloody hill appeared from nowhere and just kept going up and up and up.....when i finally got to the top and got some oxygen back in my lungs, i floored it down the hill and misjudged a tight bend and braked too late and went into a dry-stone wall......nothing too serious.
Finally got home and collapsed in a heap on the driveway. Was meant to be 40, ended up being 49!
Total amateur compared to the majority of you lot but it was bloody hard.![]()
