Unless i go out to the coast as emmi mentioned a few back...its up and down and up and down....even getting to the canal has......5-6 horrible climbs in it.

Ive decided....i need to do what Daz did and start saving up and buy a decent road bike.
The bike i have is good enough for what i currently do but its not a road bike and i think if i got something like what you all ride i could clock up the milage alot easier. I borrowed the road bike of the peoples house i was working at this summer down in shreswbury and i couldnt believe the speed you can get out of them!
Considering scarpping my car fund for one
My new titanium racing machine costs quite a lot more than the car I boughht in January so keep saviong Al

I presume there's rules like the Planet X Old Skool time trial series? No Tri Bars, no disk wheels, no CARBON....

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I went out today planning on doing 40 miles to pump up the previous distance ive ever cycled before of 34 miles....with Daz H's words of wisdome repeating over and over in my head.
I took a wrong turning by the start of Parbold Hill Race and ended up go knows where.
My plan was to go through Standish and then on to Rivington......Standish never can and i ended up going through Coppull (where accident number 1 occurred ).
Headed in the direction of Rivington and eventually came to Chorley where i back-tracked to Rivington. Got abit lost trying to find the road the skirts round the edge of one of the reservoirs and ended up on a mountain bikers dream track.......then this bloody hill appeared from nowhere and just kept going up and up and up.....when i finally got to the top and got some oxygen back in my lungs, i floored it down the hill and misjudged a tight bend and braked too late and went into a dry-stone wall......nothing too serious.

Finally got home and collapsed in a heap on the driveway. Was meant to be 40, ended up being 49!

Total amateur compared to the majority of you lot but it was bloody hard.

Remember taking my mate for his first 100 to Settle and back, took us 8 hours and nearly killed him, now he's hooked and does it regular, leaves me trailing in his wake!!!

I thought because i had gone wrong the distance would have been around the 30 mile mark and i was about to hang myself with the time it took me....lifted my spirits abit when i worked out it was a fair bit more.

    2 hour 52 i think it was.
