I'm not suggesting it was anyone on here, - though you never know - but I'd like to meet the individual who took mine from Mam Nick.

It was quite nicely concealed over the fence by the gate from the road to Rushup. A clubmate, who had stashed in a nearby spot told me that mine had gone when he arrived, about an hour before me, just a circle left in the snow where it had been!

That drink really could have made the difference to my race, (life or death?).

I find that incredible but also slightly strange. Why would anyone rob someone's water bottle at Mam Nick when there's a well publicised drinks station there anyway?

Word to the wise - next time leave 2 bottles - one with your drink in it, the other with something altogether different in it - see if the culprit fancies a gamble

Just make sure you get the right one...

    Steve T,

That's an awesome bit of work. I can now spend the next 2 hours of my late shift pondering my various positions during the race....

    Ta.

I have just looked on SteveT link and noticed that there are only 405 names down. I know they don't include the runners that the MRT picked up but does it imply there were still a lot of Failed to Turn up people?

Your question might be answered later in this thread, but Martin Stone said 415 runners started, 338 finished, 77 dropped out.

...I know I'm a loser and have no shame so I'll make my third posting in a row... (thankfully no one has any idea who I am!)

... is it not possible, given the previous comments on this thread r.e. litter, dropped drinks bottles etc. that someone actually picked it up and thought "Some idiot dropping this litter, and FULL as well! What a waste. Nevermind I'll do the good thing and pop it in the bin!"

    It's possible, no?

    Absolutely.

And, almost certainly, all the litter droppers will have been people just like you and me who would curse at seeing discarded gels but may also accidentally drop something with frozen fingers and over-stuffed bumbags, and never even notice.

And if anyone ever finds the packet of oatcakes I lost on Martcrag Moor, they weren't litter, they were going to be my lunch.

Saw a gel packet on the way up to Brown Knoll and bent down to pick it up but it was full so I fumbled it and could't bring myself to stop and pick it up. Wonder if anyone mad euse of it... or had it been stashed?!

Geek alert, but I did a race the other week with dibbery things, and they produced some wonderful graphy and tabley things.

Ignoring my embarrassing times, and navigational errors which they've handily automatically shaded pink, but there is

    - a graph thing at http://www.splitsbrowser.org.uk/spli...p?eventId=2016

    - a table thing at http://www.obasen.nu/winsplits/onlin...4&categoryId=2

I think it's an orienteering thing, It may be old hat to some, but I thought it was quite impressive in a Captain Nerd sort of way.
