The reason they insist on an 'A' standard 6 minutes faster than the official IAAF standard is because (as Andi himself pointed out in a recent thread) that they want any travelling athletes to be in with a reasonable medal chance.....anything else (other than taking a very young talented athlete) would be seen in UKA eyes as a "waste" of resources.......as amusing as your point is Dom, the UKA sprint relay team will always be in with a realistic medal chance IF they can hold onto the baton......hence UKA can justify (in their eyes) taking 7/8 or more athletes (including those in the individual 100 and / or 200m sprints you understand)
