Rules state it can't be single led type. Diameter of lens can't be less than 30mm. So this rules out my petzl myo. I've got a Hope 2 led torch but no spare rechargeable Lion battery for it. It'll last 30 hours on full charge. But rules state spare batteries must be carried. Oh it's 50quid for a spare and i don't want to pay that. How strict are they on all of this?
They changed it last year. You can use a single LED headtorch (I used an L1). They've not updated the rulebook. As for the Hope 2 with a 30 hour charge - suggest you query that with the organiser.

Thanks Pilgrim. I'm starting to panick about everything, it's ridiculous. Initial signs of stress.

Take any old battery (live or dead) that looks like it might fit the bill. They're hardly likely to ask you prove that it works.

If they still insist on an ornage bivvy bag why not fold it over at the bottom and use that as your liner?

Don't worry too much about the torch I am sure they accepted myo's in the past think if you go back on this thread you will find evidence.

It will be fine, the rules are a guidance I am sure the bag doesn't have to be clear I've always just used a bin liner. Don't panic its fine you will enjoy it and soon relax into the Fellsman pace when you are on the move.

I find the whole kit check thing very stressful. One would always like to think that the officials will apply common sense, but there's always the nagging worry that you could get disqualified on the start line.

The actual race itself doesn't cause me any worries (apart the fear of being grouped - I must, must must get to Park Rash by 7.30 )

I wasn't benig serious. If I was having a good day, I might be there by 10. But there's no harm in dreaming about being able to run the whole cousrse solo
