DUDDON ROUTE FINDING TIP !!
Am fairley confident about the race route it's just which line is best for a friday night arrival.
If your getting to duddon from the south up the M6, does anyone have any tips which is the best route:
the south road, the A590 via broughton-in-furness and broughton mills
or...
the north road via ambleside wrynose pass and cockley beck
Cheers for now
AWNTY
Its probably quicker (and an easier drive) via the A590 but if you go over Wrynose you can leave food and drink hidden somewhere in the rocks at 3 Shires to pick up on the way past - just remember which rock because by Saturday most of them will have little surprises underneath. Hope its not too hot - I have previous for wimping out to the short course if the sun is shining!
I could do with a bit of advise.
I've been impressed with my Kanadias since I bought them - 3 Peaks etc fine - but I ran in my Swoops (similar trailly type) at Fairfield and in the Lakeland rockier setting, particularly the descent, they were nigh on useless due to the wet rock.
Kanadias did fine for me at AW - but what is Duddon like?
I know I need to get some proper fell shoes, such as a Mudroc 330 (Stagger prefers the 270!) but I'm worried about running Duddon in new shoes.
Will I be Ok in my Kanadias?
Thanks ML - I'm just lacking in Lakes experience and they are fine in grass / moorland / trail but found wanting on wet rock.
I think I will still have a new pair of fell shoes this week, but maybe break them in with a couple of 1 hour runs rather than straight in to Duddon.
No wet rock last year, and judging by the forecast, it will be dry this year, apart from the bogs approaching CawI found the deepest one's, much to the amusement of everyone behind me, i have 330's and 270's and have found them easy to break in.
Happy shoe shopping and have a good un on saturday mate![]()
haven't got any proper fell shoes either, but comfort's got to be main thing for these long ones hasn't it
I was looking to get mizuno wave harriers, but the pair I got through the post didn't fit, and too late to re-order
Reckon I'm going to get a pair of Roclite 315s instead, should do the trick ...
PS: if anyone can give us a lift to Ulverston or Lancaster on the Sunday morning, I'd be v grateful of it.
