This may surprise a few among you.....
But, I "ran" the race with full kit in my bumbag today,
(full water-proofs, hat&gloves, compass&whistle&map, apricots, gels, etc etc...)
Even wore a shirt & hat for most of the way....
Plus, had extra food & drink/liquid....
    Yes, twas very heavy too!

The way of these things in my book is...
Make it very very plain at registration,
    that full kit is compulsory...
Have a kit check too + random checks at the start,
make it known that that is that,AND IT WILL DOES HAPPEN....
and if you demure you are off the list..
    and not welcome back again..
    It's not a big ask,
even when Kinder becomes the Med' for a day!

Cracking DAY, magical views all the way round..
Bit HOT for me and all that kit...
(mini rant over...well done to the kitted & unkitted...twas a tough run today)

    Wow! Never Under-Estimate The Trog!
horrifying conditions (I hate the heat)
never drank/splashed myself with so much water before
still verging on heat-stroke/dehydration at the end
4 mins slower than last year despite being much fitter
    still enjoyed it though

I usually thank the marshals/MRT etc, but I think they should be thanking us for the opportunity to be out there on such a lovely day (if you weren't running)

Only my second outing in a fell race - blooming heck was that tough!

Cramped up and tumbled down a fair way on the steep section down from Edale Cross and then really struggled up the slope after. I recovered but couldn't run properly after that, even on the flat.

I'm glad I had plenty of water with me as the heat was a bit much at times and the "emergency rations" came in handy more than once.

The jam sandwiches were a god send at the end and I bet that ice-cream van man did a bit of trade! It was a great event and well worth the trip up from Essex and will definitely return next year.

After all that's been said about kit checks, emergency food, etc. in relation to this race, the only thing I think that should be made mandatory for all long category summer fell races is a plate full of oranges two thirds of the way in.

I don't think I've ever seen a more welcome sight at this point in any race, absolutely top banana,...if that makes sense
